Heh. Piercing holes close up if you don't put the piercing in, you know.

Re: Question About Nose Piercing
Piercings of all kinds are far more acceptable now than they were 5 or 10 years ago. Most employers don't frown on most piercings these days, unless they're excessive, and a nose piercing is far from excessive.

Perhaps if you work in an office. But if you're dealing with people, most employers forces you to remove or cover up a facial piercing.

Got a link for that?
Coz in my work place at a well-known Large MultiNational Retail Store, folks have piercings and tats and it's not mandated by The Corporation that people remove/hide/cover them. They'd have to write regulations that apply internationally specifying that no jewelry is allowed at all and the second they do that, they'd have legal hassles and charges of discrimination.
You see people with piercings & tats "dealing with the public" all the time.

Re: Question About Nose Piercing
I was present when my then-girlfriend (now wife) got her belly buttonpierced.
Holy crap!
She said it hurt a tad, but I'm too much of a wuss to ever get a piercing.
The piercing was performed @ a tattoo parlor. It wasn't 100% clean, and she got a slight infection for a week or 2...nothing major, just the kind that needed to be cleaned daily. The guy who did the piercing did use a sterile package, wore gloves, etc.
It looked really good on her. Now she'll have to get it re-done after having our son. We'll prolly look at going to a Dr.'s office for that.

'those' piercings? It's just a tiny stud. Several people that I work with have them, (and yes, I do work in an office...and 1 of them is a sales exec) It CAN be tasteful, you know.
Never fails to amaze me how judgemental people are!

well, zero gauges...
but chances are that your either already in a profession that allows is, or you know you are boned if you get Zero Gauges.

Re: Question About Nose Piercing
Piercings may close, but that doesn't mean that you can't still see where they once were. I haven't had any piercings since high school, but you can still tell that they were all there.

"All"? Like what sorts of piercings? I didn't picture you as a 'piercing' sort of fella....
And I'll propose there's a difference between the remnant 'hole' being visible (faint tiny scar size of a pinhead that only the piercee would likely notice) and being obvious to passers-by (OMGHOLES!!1!) Except, as Edward points out above, if you're playing with stuff in the zero gauge range.
What's "zero gauge?" About 5/16" or 8mm

What do they call the measurment of a piercing the size of the hole in the middle?

African
anyhoo, Zero Gauges are the "point of no return" for your earlobes. Once you get to zero, your lobes will not be able to close the hole up. Some people have been able to get it back down to a 2 gauges, but the hole will never close up completely. Of course, you can go bigger then zero, but then you'll look like a freak...

Nope. No link, just a ton of past smurfy jobs, piercings, and about 15 friends with similar stories.
All in all, It depends where you work. If you're a waiter / waitress in Berkeley or SoMa SanFrancisco, you can run a stud trough your entire face and no one is going to care. But if you're working in the burbs or the financial district, it's a different story.

Whether or not it is life size depends on the screen resolution.

Re: Question About Nose Piercing
i have 6 piercings of my own and nobody has a problem with them... i have my eyebrow with just a small ring in it and alls you can see is two tiny balls about 1/2 an inch apart, each of my ears are pierced twice... the first hole i used to have 6 gauge hoops in them which is 4.1mm but then i got bored at school and shuved a pencil threw each one and they weren't normal pencils... they were bigger it was about the size of a 0 gauge which is 8.25mm and then i went back to the 6 gauge and the hoops could spin so it wasn't healing so i went to a 14 gauge which is 1.6mm and they are healing now but not all the way yet and once they are healed i am going to properly stretch them to a 2 gauge which is 6.5mm, in my second holes i have regular sized ear rings, and then i have my scrotum pierced, i did all my peircings myself but i know where to get the supplies... i can get the hollow needles for 35 cents each and i got a set of piercing clamps from my dad.... oh and i forgot to mention that i had my finger pierced for 2 months and my arm pierced for about a week and you can still see where they were at and i have had them both out for about 2 months now
