Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
Well I took it in and the guy asked, and I quote.
"Have you tried a full install?"
I refrained from abusing him there on the spot, instead reiterating that it wasn't doing it before I brought it in and had the motherboard replaced. At least it has been booked in under warranty.

If I were you I'd stop walking around with partially installed stuff on my "busted" computer.
If you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
Ha, I'm not going to do a complete reinstall if the motherboard was replaced. Shouldn't have to. If you're referring to me not bothering to restart 10.4.9, that was the iMac and I have never really bothered, they always seem to work fine.

Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
My PowerBook had a problem with the battery: wouldn't charge, always said "Calculating...", and refused to start on just the charger; it needed a battery (with some juice left) to start up. Once started, I could remove the battery and it'd keep working.
Just got a call from the repair place: they tried putting in a new DC board, but that didn't help. Getting a new logic board, now.

Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
Sounds like a power supply issue...

The current macbooks can be started with no battery in place, which can be nice.

Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
I got screwed over on a Yikes G4 (Pre-sawtooth, PCI v.s. AGP).
The motherboard burnt out about one month outside of warranty.
The storm starts when the drops start dropping. When the drops stop dropping, the storm starts stopping.

Gah, I know that feeling, my old iBook burnt out it's MB 2 months after a 3yr Applecare expired, I wanted to save money for a little while more so I paid for a new MB, it worked fine after that....

So can every Apple PowerBook ever built.
Provided it's fully functional, of course. I wouldn't be getting my logic board replaced if this was par for the course.

Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
I'm just not happy. I've had no problems with Macs until now.

Re: So, my MacBook bites the dust...
Two weeks later and CompUSA has still not replaced my battery. Are they attempting to look completely incompetent or are they really that stupid?
