I'd say matte which seems to be the huge majority here. However, you see this same question posed on Apple's own forum and it seems most say glossy is the way to go.

My vote is for glossy because I liked the look.

In direct sunlight I find it easier to view than matte, because like someone mentioned earlier, with matte any direct sunlight from any angle causes the screen to die, whereas the glare on the glossy screen is much more "confined" and adjusting the angle of the screen actually makes it a bit more readable than the matte.

I use the laptop in a bunch of situations (it's very mobile) and I've never really found the glare to be show-stoppingly annoying. I really thought it would be worse than it is.
