What's your passion?
With all the debates around here lately about consumer towers, 10.5 features, Apple Inc focusing on gadgets and the like, it seems like we have not discussed what we actually use our Macs for much lately.
So what's your passion, and how do you use your Mac for it? Are you a pro editor, a hobbiest photographer, a writer, a closet-BSD Unix hacker, or what?
My passion can be best summed up from the front page of my web page and how I put it all together into my digital hub.

I'm antisocial and a perfectionist, so I hide behind a well designed screen.
I still believe in liberalism today as much as I ever did, but, oh, there was a happy time when I believed in liberals.

I use photoshop rather well. And no, it doesn't get a capitalization. For now, I'm doing it for school.

Re: What's your passion?
I don't use my Mac for work unfortunately. I'm stuck with a Windows machine. I like my Mac because it gives me the least amount of grief, I can do lots of fiddling with it and I like the UI. I'm not so much living the iLife.

I hang out in Unpluged a lot.
Recreational net surfing, iPhoto and iTunes.
Fowarding chain e-mails.
Maybe soon I can buy a Mac POS system for the C-Store. I've always wanted to use a Mac for real work.

Re: What's your passion?
At home its mostly surf the net, download podcasts, listen to music, email and sometimes graphic design (the 12" screen is kind of constraining). At work I use my G4 Dual 800 for graphic design (Creative Suite, Freehand MX, Word, PowerPoint).
MacBook 2.0 GHz Black, 2 Gigs of RAM, 320 Gig HD, Superdrive

Re: What's your passion?
I've been asking myself the same question for a couple of years now: what's my passion?
For a while, it was Macs and Apple and evangelizing/following the developments with Apple and the Mac community. When a hobby turns into a job, however, there tends to be more time available for other pursuits -- and those pursuits just aren't happening for me right now.
On my Twitter page (see sig), I describe myself as:
"like charlie in 'flowers for algernon,' only I used to be creative instead of smart."
...and that's really how I feel right now. I remember being creative, and being talented, and being passionate about my cartooning and painting and music. But try as I might, I just can't light that fire again.
Since the advent of technology in my everyday home life (circa 1997), I've been a voracious information junkie. I'm on the internet almost all the time, and I'm a glutton for useless information: that is to say, I read up on the Mac / tech sites and news sites daily, I'll occasionally wander off in a bout of digital ADD for a while and read up on useless stuff for a while before I refocus back on my original task.
And I remember beforehand, while struggling to make ends meet, I actually made a hand-drawn copy/paste ad and catalog for handmade sci-fi novelty items (buttons, pins, figurines). I actually got more requests for catalogs than I expected, and I got even more orders than I ever dreamed -- so much so that I had to backtrack and refund a bunch of orders that I couldn't fill. I still hold that in my mind as an example of how I busted my ass trying to get things done that I cared about in my BC (before computer) life, while I've pretty much just squandered all my time since then. With the tools I've had at my disposal since that time, I could have done LOTS more of that sort of stuff, but it's almost like the digital life sucks all the creative energy out of me.
That, or maybe it's just getting old and having kids -- which happened all around the same time frame.
Either way, I'm working on getting back into the swing of things creatively. I'm trying to find a passion again. (The prices for CS3 aren't really helping the process along, though...but that's another subject altogether).
(Sorry for going off on a rant. The original post just sorta busted open the floodgates for me.)

Re: What's your passion?
All of my lectures are Keynotes; papers, articles, and books are Pages; tons of pictures in iPhoto and Flickr. My passion, however, is astronomy so Starry Night is always running, but my observatory, unfortunately, is operated by a very slow Windows machine.

I use it to keep my door open.
iMacs really aren't good for that, and the pro machines are just too expensive to use for that purpose.

Animating in Flash MX
Drawin' via my Graphire3
Two forums (MAF, whoops I mean M|F, and SFDT)
Reading about recent news and updates in video game culture
Thinking up of ways to make some $$$
Halo every other month
Oh! Recently I've been practicing my Beethoven Sonata for Piano & Cello by playing the MIDI file in GarageBand. I mute the cello part (as I'm playing the cello) and allow only the piano part to pump hrough. After adjusting the tempo accordingly, I play a duet on my cello with my Mac. Pretty interesting.

Re: What's your passion?
I use my Mac side for everything, more specifically I use the whole iLife suite + the Adobe Creative Suite. I recently moved from iPhoto to Aperture with my hobby of automotive photography.
I use the Windows side to make video games for school and other school projects. And, to play all the wonderful Valve games.
Mac Pro, Two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, NVIDIA 8800 GT, 7 GB RAM.
15" Macbook Pro, 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA 9600 M, 4 GB RAM.

Mostly the look, but when I'm doing quick-entry there's a huge, glaring difference (well, only huge if you need it): On Windows keypads there's a number lock key instead of the clear key. The clear key is a shortcut to change a note to a rest, and it's not there on a Windows keyboard. That causes me no end of frustration when I have to input things at work.
Otherwise most of the differences are cosmetic, but I still prefer the Mac version.

Re: What's your passion?
Yes
Oh, I have to actually put something here? Well it is assisting me in my nefarious plot to take over the world. But it's so much work.
Home videos, photos, making music CDs, writing, and some freelance writing that I do at home, gaming.
Soon though, all you bases are mine. And then when the net is unified I will remove all opposition.
