What kind of healer is she? If she is a priest, a paladin actually isn't a bad class to go with (even though they are still healers). Basically, the only nonhealing classes are warriors, rogues and mages (strictly speaking).

Re: ? new account, new charactor, new everything.
Don't really need more DPS pallies in WoW atm
. Probably the most hated people ive ever found. No one wants them nor needs them outside of PVP.
If she wants to be a dmg dealer. Mage is probably the best pick atm. Rogues got castrated again in 2.0...now Mages and Hunters beat them very often on dmg.
Hunter is not a bad class to start into WoW with. But there are billions of em so theres more competition from other hunters/DPS classes to get on runs. They also are expensive to lvl up. Not only do you have to pay for hunter talents but also pet talents.

DPS pallies aren't wanted in serious PvP, either.

I would suggest getting a...
Nothing.
Don't. Buy. The. Game.
Trust me, you'll be better off following this advice. You'll save MONTHS of your life. And I mean months, as in you'll have spent that time playing WoW.
Your Girlfriend isn't worth it.

Re: ? new account, new charactor, new everything.
actually, I can and do walk away from online.
and so does she.
she is a travel nurse and we go for a couple weeks at a time apart.
so instead of bars and whatnot which we detest, we online together.
iChat A/V is nice also, but the game fills in a bit.
when we are together, we rarely go online.
so now I am a human warlock.. for what it's worth.
besides, wow helps use some acreage on this 30" display when I don't have a video running on it.

30"??? Spoiled!
Starter character for me was a Druid. Still play him still like him. They are like a swiss army knife, do a little of everything just not as good as those specific classes. I found the easiest class for me overall has been the warrior. Easy as in "Me bash, you die" stuff. It does get more complex than that eventually but hey, who doesn't like to bash?
Or you could do it like a friend of mine did. He made 8 characters and played each one up to level 10 or so and decided which he liked most. Not my style though.
Hoping for the next major update they come out with the Murloc Ninja. Figure he should be easy to play.
Life is like a box of Apples.

Druid, rogue, warrior or hunter would be good starter toons also. If you and the wife pair up much, a pally or druid will be less useful. I suggest one of each so you can also have every trade skill and avoid paying a lot for materials and finished goods.

welp. I am a human warlock, she is a human priest.
her son has about 5 characters and my daughter has 4.
the kids are 50+ and mostly 70's.
anyway, it's a hoot when we play... that's what it's about anyway.
