Broadway Photo = bad
I am a charter subscriber to MacAddact and I have a question that I would really like an answer to. I would like to know why you print an advertisement for Broadway Photo (a.k.a.Digital Liquidators, a.k.a. A&M Photo, a.k.a. Regal Camera). This store is a complete scam! They bait and switch, they advertise low prices that they do not honor. They blatantly sell grey market items. They purposely over-charge credit cards. All of these abuses are well documented (see http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2375.html )
I realize that your magazine needs to make money, but you might was well publish ads for Mac friendly porn sites and get more reputable advertisers. Please don't just dump this complaint in the trash heap; please respond and let me know why you accept money from these criminals.
I'm told MacWorld will stop accepting ads from these criminals. Will MacAddict stand up for its readers too and stop printing ads for scammers?
Sincerely,
Allan Marcus
Thanks,<P>Allan Marcus<BR>Allan@pobox.com

As you know, we edit types have no control over the business side of our magazine. That said, I've passed complaints about Broadway Photo to our publisher before, and I'll send him a link to your posting, as well.
Thanks for bringing this up.

Hi, Rik.
Please forward this link (PC World article) on grey marketers (specifically Broadway Photo) to your folks handling advertising.
Thanks.

Re: Broadway Photo = bad
I was actually kind of shocked to see these ads in the magazine, as a couple of years ago they were one of the shops in a local tv news special where they had hidden cameras, actors posing as customers, etc., to trap these guys. The show later described their suspect business practices. When I saw the ad in MacAddict I thought that maybe they had changed their ways, but after reading the PC World article, I guess it is business as usual for those guys.

Re: Broadway Photo = bad
I just was ripped off from Broadway photo, if anyone reads this post I Beg you not to order from this company no matter how the price entices you. I ordered a Panasonic TZ3-A for 269.00. When they finally confirmed the order they told me that this was the import price And for $20 more I can get the American camera with the 2 hour Battery. I said ok. I live in NJ and the store is a half hour away. It took 7 more days for them to ship. I got the camera yesterday and low and behold the #1 outer box was damaged, thank god the camera was ok. I opened the box the Battery was loose and was a Jap import, the camera was not sealed in the wrapper and the Instruction manual which was European was also loose. I then called BPhoto and of course it was too late and I was instructed to call back today. So then I called Panasonic USA and after 45 minutes they said 99% sure the camera was made in the USA. So I was kind of ok with that. Then I put there after market battery in the camera and the Date was already set which leads me to believe that this is a used camera/Demo. THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A PURCHASE ONLINE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM BROADWAY PHOTO
