GoLive 9 is out!

But before you buy it, you might want to consider buying DW instead.

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
I kind of feel bad for the people who develope GoLive. How depressing would it be to make a product your own company doesn't want your customers to buy?
"Hey, we need you to spend countless hours updating GoLive so we can tell people how much it sucks!"
i don't understand most things
i don't really want to
i just want the strength
to keep fighting it

So...... huh? is right. If they're going to do that, then why not just link em to the switch page when you actually buy GL9.
In fact they wouldn't have had to even develop GoLive 9, just say they did and forward them onto Dreamweaver

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
This has been out for a bit now. They released it all sneaky like when nobody was looking. Took FOREVER to get GL to universal. Seems like a waste of dev time that could have been spent on DW but hey.
I stopped using GL 5 years ago and DW 2 years ago except sometimes I will launch DW for a quick layout visual play if I am having CSS fits. I am still on 10.3.9 so I don't have access to all the new fangled fancy dev tools available for 10.4

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
The only thing GL is good for is the site manager.
Even the built in text editor sucks.
Granted, I learned a lot by starting in GL.

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
I guess they don't want to force people to learn a new program if they're already familiar with GL. My guess is that with each version, they'll make it more and more similar to DW, until they can just say "here's your program, it just has a different name."
I know my mom was pissed when she was forced to switch from quark to indesign, even though countless sources told her indesign was the better program.

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
I've been using GL forever and a day. I already bought GL9 so I'd at least have it. In their infinite wisdom (of course) they went and made major UI changes and destroyed my workflow... so typical. I just wanted basically what I had "Universalized"... since they're killing it off anyway.
But I won't give it up until they pry it from my cold dead hands.

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
interesting to see they have support for Spyr which is the pre release Adobe Labs AJAX framework...
hopefully they will release a proper RC for Spyr so that its at least stable. still has nothing on MooTools in terms of functionality...

InDesign's beta release was better than Quark's current version.

I had expected that there would have been some sort of rebranding/retargeting of GL. Kind of like they did with PageMaker or something. Dumb it down and simplify it and make it consumer level product.

Re: GoLive 9 is out!
I've been tinkering with Dreamweaver since version 4 and finally got serious with the CS3 Design Premium bundle. Never tried GoLive personally.
