Send message to ATI's backorder
Sorry for the long post here, but I need to give the history of this situation: I could sit here and beat up on ATI for not being completely honest with their customers. But I'm sure there are always two sides to the story. I am one of those people who have purchased a G-5 Power PC when they were the fastest machine on the planet. Withe that being said, it is still a great machine and I am not ready to take the next step into intel-based macs yet. Meanwhile I need to upgrade my video card. I ordered an ATI RADEON X800 XT MAC EDITION in March of this year. I was told it was back ordered and should be here in a couple of weeks. Since then, I have emailed and called to find out what is the hold up? Here it is May 15th. When I called, I could not get any information, just the run around (which I won't get into on this forum). I noticed that OWC had the same part on their website and indicated it was back ordered and will be in stock in 10 days. I called OWC and talked with them. They explained they were told by ATI they would have this card in the proposed time frame. I explained to the sales rep that I already had an order through ATI. So I waited to see if OWC would get their cards in. Since ATI is the supplier, I would assume ATI would have the stock to fill their orders. A few days later after reviewing OCW's website and noticing that 29 days had been added to the backorder time. I then contacted OWC and received a response back that ATI actually indicated that this part was originally scheduled to be in stock Dec. 2006!. All I want to know is a straight answer. Are orders for this card going to be filled or not! I'm just a customer that is pale in comparison to a vendor like OWC. How many more customers are feeling the frustration?

Ummmm, have no idea why you are posting here.
I can tell ya, I wouldn't waste time with ATI retail Mac boards anymore. ATI keeps screwing up and providing lackluster parts. Unofficially the reason for all the supply problems is ATI trying to get all the Mac boards under a new manufacturing standard but I say its bull. They've had plenty of time to resolve things. With AMD picking up ATI, i'm betting its more related to issues reorganizing the company.
Best solution for you...You'd be better off buying flashed boards off ebay or buying used from ebay. It sucks yeah but when ATI has time and time again failed to provide a product. This leaves some of us Mac folk to turn to alternative means.

I'd gladly try to help you with your problems.
But I'm terrified of that block of text.

So why didn't you leave it buried back in mid-May where you found it? This guy posted once, seemingly out of frustration. He's not coming back.

Because it was on the first page, I didn't realise how dead this section was.

I was just excited that someone hadn't forgotten about [MA]General. Good to see traffic here.
