Live Trace VS Streamline
I dont often find the need to work in Illustrator that much myself, but I personally felt that the auto trace features in 9 and CS were inferior to Streamline.
But for the past two years I've had a new computer and not using anything in classic. Anyway, I have the CS suite on our computers here at home. But, my wife is teaching computer art at the local college next semester, and at the school they have CS2, which means she gets to bring home CS2 to put on our computer because she's the teacher. Anyway, just out of curiosity, what has been the opinion of everyone to the Live Trace feature in CS2? I havent gotten a chance to try it out for myself, I am interested in what your thoughts are. I know CS3 is out, but whatever. What do you think?

Re: Live Trace VS Streamline
If you're tracing black and white line art (no gray or color) I've found that using photoshop is the best.
Select all the line art, then use the selection to curves button at the bottom of the paths palette. Click while holding the option key to get conversion options.
This can be used for color as well, but its tedious. I like the results much better than autotrace, but at the same time, haven't done much with the new versions of autotrace.

Re: Live Trace VS Streamline
CS2/3s Livetrace is pretty nice. I've never tried Streamline, though, so I don't know if it's better or worse.

Streamline was pretty good, though not as good as that new thing...

Yeah, IMHO Streamline was nice, but Live Trace is a lot better. And the conversion to Live Paint objects is especially nice.
If I were you I'd upgrade directly to CS3. The Live Color (new is CS3) features, to me, are killer.

Just made a couple of flags using Live Trace and I must say it saved a ton of time.
I use to use Vektor Forge before live Trace came out since Streamline is no more.

That's too bad.
I couldn't find a google cache or web archive of it to show you either.
I know they are in talks with Adobe so maybe they had to make the tech private until it gets worked into a product.
