Teh Inranet's been Stolen!

Every so often, my internet cuts out, shutting down F@H, downloads, and other web access. the only way to fix it is using Network Diagnostics and click through until all of the lights starting from the ISP going down that were red turn green. Help!

Telus ISP, D-Link DSL-300G Gen II ADSL Modem, D-Link DI-524 wireless/wired router, iMac CD 17", Nintendo Wii.

Problem started sometime after setting up WiiConnect24.

Re: Teh Inranet's been Stolen!

When your internet gets cut off, what lights are displayed on your modem (ie. what is its status)? You should be able to deduce wether or not it's your ISP or your hardware/software.

Although, after dealing with Telus for a few years, I'd blame them too...

Re: Teh Inranet's been Stolen!

It could be a multitude of things.

Is the phone line dedicated or shared? Does the line sound clear?

dedicated; not sure, as all we have are cordless phones and a phone with a spinning dial in the garage.

You should plug a phone in and listen to the line.

Re: Teh Inranet's been Stolen!

Sometimes the ISP will switch your service.  Like a routine change to another digital line after so many hours of up time.

It may be their reaction to network usage.  They need the bandwidth that you are not or have not used for a while.

Or something else...

You be your computer, a bad router, RF interference with the router, the phone line, the switch or the DSLAM at the central office, the fact that you've been routed to a new central office, etc.

I don't think your Wii Update is hurting anything.

I didn't think so either, but it was to coincidental to let slide.
