Forgetting anything?
I'm putting the final touches on the gear list for the new editing suite. Projects will range from short commercials to band performances and music videos to a reality tv series. Most projects will be shot in 720p DVCPRO HD. For the time being we'll use our HVX to capture footage from the P2 cards. In the future, when we get more HVX's, we will be add the 5 bay P2 drive.
Minus audio monitors, my boss is an engineer and will be taking care of that part, here's the list:
------------
Computer:
Mac Pro: 2.66GHz, 250GB, 1GB RAM, ATI X1900, Bluetooth and Airport
$2,827
Extras:
400GB HD
$84.99
4GB RAM
$249.99
Logitech Desktop S 530 Laser (keyboard/mouse)
$69.99 ($20 Rebate Available)
Monitor Solutions:
2 x 24" Dell LCD
$699 (each)
MOTU V3HD
$2,589.95
Panasonic 17" HD Monitor
$2,849.95 ($250 Rebate Available)
Samsung 40" LCD
$1,399.99 ($100 Rebate Available)
Storage:
CalDigit HD Pro 2TB Tower
$3,799
500GB OWC Firewire 800 External Drive
$219.99
Software:
Final Cut Pro Studio 2
$1,299
---------
Anything I should add? Potential alternatives?
Cabling will be taken care of later.
Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others.

Those shallow-focus adapters are all the rage now. For music videos, they're a must (in my opinion). Check out redrockmicro's site:

Re: Forgetting anything?
I met with the CalDigit guys at IBC about some solutions for our upcoming RED post suites. They have some really great stuff.
You might want to think about adding their switcher box for the 'pay as you grow' (as they call it) ability to eaily add more towers when you need them.
I'd really like to hear you opinions about the panasonic monitor after you've done some work with it as I'm in the process of researching/ordering similar items for my company.
Looks like a nice setup.

Re: Forgetting anything?
I might suggest trying to con a 30 inch Samsung (best of the 30s and considerable cheaper than Apple's) I love my Dell 2405FPW but I'm finding it constricting for 720p work. I'm not sure if you do much motion graphics I find 1920 x 1200 constricting, even when offloading toolbars the 20incher (1600 x 1200) that accompanies it. Motion you can't remove some panes off the main window thus the vertical resolution becomes the prohibitive force.
Also 1080p as I'm sure you're well aware mostly consumes 24, and if that's in the forseeable future than might be a consideration as well.

That's on the list of camera gear to get. I just started putting that list together this week. I've seen a lot of 35mm adapters and so far the Red Rock stands out from the rest.
