pet peeves

Hi! Suddenly I've become interested in one question. What is your biggest pet peeves? As for me, I don't like rudeness concerning servers, when clients think that if they pay money, they can do everything with waiters or serving personnel. What about you?

Re: pet peeves

My roommate won't run the dishwasher because it uses too much electricity, yet she leaves her ceiling fan on "high" all day while she isn't home.

Re: pet peeves

Every morning, I wake up to my alarm clock going off at the same time it always goes off. And despite this, every freakin' day, my roommate hears it and says "Oh smurfing smurf dude...smurf...what smurfing time is it?"

7:30, I reply, just like everyday.

His response: "smurfing smurf, dude."

I don't care if you swear. It's not something I usually do, mostly because I save for times when it's actually useful or deserved. But he is ridiculous. I'm so tired of waking up to that every morning.

But don't worry, it lasts throughout the day. I'll sit down to watch TV. He'll come into the room, pace around, stand for short periods of time right in front of the TV, turn to me, and say "HOLY smurf DUDE," whenever there's a funny quip. Variations on this TV phenomena include "WHAT THE smurf IS THAT smurf, DUDE," or "HOLY smurf," or any other expletive he can shout.

I swear to god (not literally) that he does it just to impress me with how handily he can swear. Like I said, I don't care, but if you're going to mouth off, do it a time when it actually means something. He swears more than he says "the" or "and."

He leaves the sink caked with shaving cream every day, never takes out the garbage, and gets drunk all the time on a DRY campus. I don't care if you drink either. I'm not 21, so I don't, because I don't see the need. Not to mention, I have the courtesy not to drink in our room and leave beer cans lying around, where if noticed by an employee, could get us all in trouble or kicked out. I'm pondering whether I should report his behavior, simply because I have no intention of taking the fall for his beer guzzling.

Also, I'll be sleeping at 2 in the morning, you know, when normal people do, and he'll come in from a night on the town, completely wasted, and he'll barge into the room, turn all the lights on, turn the bathroom light and fan on, and then leave the room, while turning off nothing and leaving the door wide open so I have to get up and shut it, or risk hearing him watch TV and provide expletive assistance.

I was actually going to start my own thread on this, but then I saw this, so it's just as good. Yay.

Re: pet peeves

I think "people" is a good, roundabout summary.

I dunno, I have quite a few annoyances, none of which ever really cause me more duress than rolling my eyes, though.
