It has happened a few times. Although it isn't supposed to happen anymore due to them tagging the babies.

That could work. Or, better yet, let's tattoo a number on their arms!
Seriously, though, and easy way to handle this would be to leave the child in the same room as the mother and/or father. There's probably some baby-brain-imprinting that would go on and be good, too.
Also, those baby-farm rooms are creepy.

"tagging the babies" gave me an odd image, but I lack the Photoshop skills to make it a reality: graffitied babies.

That's what happened when our baby was born. The baby didn't leave the room until she was tagged with a wrist band that matched her mom's. In fact, the baby didn't leave the room until it was time to leave the hospital!

Well, in Canada, they don't have to hold the baby hostage until the bill is paid.

That's true! Besides, if they'd tried that, my wife would have killed them all with karate.

Re: The paternity test came up negative...
The last time I visited a friend with a new baby in the hospital, they had placed some sort of tag on its umbilical cord nub thing that would set off an alarm and lock down the doors if it moved out of the baby area.
Also they probably put all the newborns in a room so that they can keep an eye on all of them and the mother can sleep.

Re: The paternity test came up negative...
e just took a lot of pictures shortly after our kids were born. No "delivery pics"
Anyway, we just kept referring back to the pics. "Is that one ours? .... Okay."

Depends on the hospital. A couple of them here force the mom to take the baby right from the start. They only take the baby out of the moms room for weighing and check ups etc, especially if the mom is going to breast feed. The only babies that stay ina nursery are the ones with health issues.
