Re: Gore wins Nobel Peace Prize in Science
The funny thing about that UK fringe political party is that it seemingly takes it's name from the party of Oswald Mosley, who later went on to form the British Union of Fascists.
Evidently this current party is not related to that old one at all, but what a clumsy choice of name, no?

Because we all know that the source of his link completely invalidates it, thus Al Gore's claims are true.

I already posted rebuttals to most of the link's points and support for 2 or 3.

The peace prize, what an honor - If Yasser Arafat
were still alive they could have a drink together and talk about their accomplishments. Whats next, give Brittany Spears the mother of the year award?

Well, Jimmy Carter did do work worthy of it with Habitat for Humanity.

So you're saying that Gore's actions were counterproductive to world peace?

That prize was for three people, including Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin (who was assassinated for his part in the accords). I don't see how excluding Arafat would have been productive.
I don't have any praise for Arafat, but as far as I can tell...the Israelis will take dealing with his people over Hamas any day.

Clue me then.
How did Habitat for Humanity contribute to world peace?
My understanding the primary factor in his 2002 peace prize was his 1994 meeting with Kim II Sung, brokering an agreement in which North Korea would stop their nuclear fuel production. Of course there were other factors, but I believe that was the main one.
Unfortunately (and after the prize was awarded) in 2005 North Korea announced they had arms and did an underground detonation to prove it - so the agreement wasn't worth much apparently, but that's what it was for.

Re: Gore wins Nobel Peace Prize in Science
The Nobel website reads:
"for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development"
I'm shocked that Jimmy wasn't able to reach an agreement with every future leader of North Korea. Why did he even bother?

The disingenuousness of this argument becomes apparent when you check around the right-wing blogosphere, all of whom mention the award for Arafat and none of whom mention Peres and Rabin.

I don't understand what that has to do with the fact that a global terrorist was named as a nobel peace prize recipient. The point is still valid.
