Yup. That's what the CH54ers do. Someone says "Hey be here at this time or be square" and bam easy 8 players.

When you guys play Gears, or whatever. With Halo it's always like "no, we're out drinkin'.

Yeah they kinda reminded me of some of the paintball players i've ran into. They spend most of the day getting hosed and then the rest of the day on the fields.

Bungie Weekly Update: 10/26/07
Posted by Frankie at 10/26/2007 4:40 PM PDT
Banhammery
We’ve mentioned before that we have implemented lots of security and anti-cheating systems in Halo 3. We’ll never have it perfect because we cannot stop people being idiots, but it’s already significantly better than ever before. We’re about to activate a part of it that required a few weeks of folks playing in the wild before we’d gathered enough data to activate it. Well, we’re just about ready to swing the mighty mallet of justice and it should make a couple of types of cheating extinct very shortly.
Halo 3 has been available for precisely one month and we’re going to be working harder than ever to make sure it stays a safe and fair place to play for the next few years. So please bear with us and remember we’re always watching and more importantly, acting on the information we receive, whether it’s immediately visible or not.
...
Map Flap
Our multiplayer design teams are hard at work on a couple of things. One of them is a fun, seasonal addition to the matchmaking playlist which should keep you entertained for about 27 hours around Halloween. No specifics yet, but suffice it to say that if you want to spend your witchy holiday playing Halo 3, we’ll give you some spooktacular reasons to do so.
The other thing keeping the designers busy, and the artists and audio guys for that matter, is downloadable content. The maps themselves are being prepared in a logical order, designed to fill gaps in our matchmaking selection and add new, interesting environments to our multiplayer arsenal. The more finished the maps are, the faster they’re likely to make it to marketplace. We’ll have more news on the specific plans for timing and availability soon, and we promise to let you guys get a look at the maps and hear more about what they have to offer.
We’ve been testing the new maps pretty regularly and I loved all except one, which for the purposes of this article, I shall refer to as, “Purple Reign.” I sometimes have an initially adverse reaction to symmetrical or semi-symmetrical map designs because I am not terribly smart and I sometimes have difficulty become oriented within those types of space. Invariably, I get used to it and learn to love them. This was just such a case, but when a new slew of architecture was added in the distance recently, it was enough for me to recognize which way was “up,” so to speak. Now I love it.
...
HALO: LANDFALL Direct Downloads!
Director Neill Blomkamp explores the lives of Marines and ODSTs on a last, desperate mission in a post-invasion Earth – a mission that may secure the salvation, or usher the destruction of the entire galaxy. Edited together as a standalone piece for the first time, these three shorts are the first glimpse at what a live-action Halo could look like and a must-see for Halo fans of every stripe.
I Can Has Recon?
Oh, folks are begging us for the Recon Armor perm, and we’re giving it out to a couple of community members today as a special treat:
ZB Shogun for suffering the most humiliating traffic accident ever:
Rubber Bullet
and...
Skyllus vBi for shooting himself in the head with his own Sniper Rifle.

Hey I was trying to figure out if I could get the chopper to split you in half like the friggen brutes did to me a dozen times in solo when I had a hog
. Worked well for them but everytime I tried it, just dead before I could even land a good hit.

Re: So whats wrong with Halo 3...
The Chopper's front is heavily armored specifically for ramming. Do not go nose to nose against one in a Hog unless you want to respawn pronto.
Besides ramming, those nose-mounted cannons are vicious. They will succumb to SPANKrs, tho; I put on a demo last fight for Books on The Ark (Leg), using and abusing Choppers as needed. Without trying and with him away 15 minutes we went over 42,000 pts. Whee.
And it was me Chopper/Hornet, you Ghost/Banshee.

That is one big cheater.
I don't think I'd normally even post this as news - but it sort of blows me away. oriol pointed out a newspost on Grunts R Us that purports to find the first Five-Star General in Bungie's ranking system. I went to look, just because I couldn't imagine how good the guy had to be... and I found page after page after page after page of boosting games. In fact, I had to go back 60 screens (of 25 games per screen) before I found my first non-cheating game! (I didn't look at EVERY screen, so I might have missed one or two - but the VAST majority of those first 60 pages are filled with boosting matches in Social Doubles.) This continues until about the 190th screen (of 218) - that's well over 4500 cheating games out of a total of 5400. THAT'S what it takes to get to 5 Star General? No thanks. (This, folks, is the sort of attitude that made Bungie turn off Leaderboards in Halo 2.) (Louis Wu 13:42:04 UTC) (permalink)

Those sort of inflaters are great, because when they actually do get around to playing, they're so atrophied in skill that it takes nothing to kick their ass and bring their levels back down.

Re: So whats wrong with Halo 3...
Now having a few MP matches under my belt. I gots more gripes, not that it'll do any good.
1) FFS I'm sick of staring at my corpse in MP and SP. WhereTF are the handy cam shots. Oh wait those are in that other superior MP game.
2) Lack of custom buttons. WhyTF is it so locked down.
3) If you miss a frag that wasn't there, did you really miss it? Yeah the lag gripe...blinking bitches get off the tubes.
4) Auto Aim. I think I can turn this off, have to look but it should be off by default in MP. Hate seeing my XHairs move w/o me.

If it was off by default you'd just complain that it's way too hard to aim at something with the imprecise joysticks. Believe me, I played Halo: CE on my Mac using an Xbox-to-USB converter, and it was hard enough aiming at enemies in single player with their relatively simple movements. I can't imagine how hard it would be to hit your typical human opponent with their crazy strafes and jumps.
With my best friend at my side,
I face the new day in full stride.
I don't know what the future holds,
But I'll be waiting, proud and bold.

The one where you get a Saved Film of the entire match, where you can detach the camera and watch the entire match at variable speed from any vantage and even take custom screens of your demise and find out what kilt ya (unlike that 'other' game)

Not fond of it myself, but it's been the console standard since before Halo 1 and nearly universal since. You're too used to GoW... which likely could've had crossplatform play, but without auto-aim PC players would've hurt too many fragile egos by pwnage unless the PC version was more limited than it is, and as a devotee of that other m/kb game, you know that well.

I'm talking real time. Saved films does no good while you watch your corpse get tea bagged for 10+ seconds. UT's been doing demorecs & game editors since 99 'bout time Halo caught up.
6, 8 or whatever choices is not custom buttons. I wanna map them, screw the presets. I'm left handed and the the south paw sucks and most of the others do to.
See Saved Films.
Great so I can watch the lag all over again. FANTASICT IDEA!
Not fond of it myself.
Ya know what it is? It's all about consistency. All I really want is one speed. None of this push a little aim slow, push hard aim fast. The grey area between the two isn't enough. It's like one or the other and I'm constantly over compensating for it esp in the heat of battle. Basically turn off the GD mouse acceleration. I keep messing with the input settings looking for a better fit...

Yeah I agree they need custom buttons. After messing with it awhile, I saw where button placement needed to be modified but when I went to do it, the options were terrible. Think they just don't want people to have any edge over others.

I guess we wore our crankypants home today.
I likely logged far more hours on the original DMDeck 16 than you did on its successor and was editing the engine in '98. I've always been versed in its capabilities and have archives of mods you never heard of, that patches likely broke before UT came along. I still sometimes try to reflexively 'pan' in Halo, after too many hours of Unreal, Half-Life etc. I think you know I know Unreal.
Getting Saved Films, Forge, Fileshares etc. into a console game seems a near-miracle, and I'll be surprised if UT3 PC equals those functionalities. Let's pay special attention to the 360 Edition on that one next year, 'k?
See Saved Films.
Great so I can watch the lag all over again. FANTASICT IDEA!
Avert thine eyes from bad behavior, then, but reflect that, being not even a digital 'film' but game data that plays back only in-engine, a film likely does not suffer the degree of lag realtime has, but panning surely would. You could look away & around, but as 'laggily' as your game was playing... and you'll have nowhere near the info about your demise.
Too tired to get into the controller issue... but you also know that if you take some shots at Halo while boosting UT, you can expect some back, in due measure.
Peace.
Edit: And IIRC you can pan somewhat, during your death anim, just not after, while waiting to respawn. Perhaps that's info deemed something you should not receive while 'dead' in MP.

Re: So whats wrong with Halo 3...
Bungie seems to have cooked up something just for NC (besides ongoing tweakage of the MP types and lists). The Weekly Updates are going on hiatus for a bit, but..
Pre-Holiday Parting Shots
We’ve got a whole week off to starve ourselves before gorging on turkey and whatever else folks decide to mow down over the week break (I'm going to be dining on a smorgasbord of awesome games) so there won’t be a Weekly Update, Humpday or a Podcast next week. But, on Monday (November 19) folks are definitely going to want to check back in here at Bungie.net and keep faces pressed to their monitors like children breathing on school bus windows in November, because there will be news. Oh yes, there will be news.
Kin yew say new maps?

Meanwhile:
Achievements Unlocked
Joe Tung tracked down some data on the achievements that have been completed by folks whose 360s are connected to Xbox Live. Here’s some data for folks to chew on:
• Campaign Complete: Normal – Completed the Campaign on Normal Difficulty: 43.28%
• Campaign Complete: Legendary – Completed the Campaign on Legendary Difficulty: 15.14%
• Graduate: Graduated from basic training. Stick with it to earn your Spartan insignia: 66.92%
• UNSC Spartan: Promoted to Sergeant. Proven in combat, you are a Spartan: 52.07%
• The most found metagame skull? Black Eye skull with 34.26%
• The least found metagame skull? Tilt at 22.98% (Go find it, jerks! It’s one of the best skulls in the game!)
• At 6.21%, Steppin’ Razor is the hardest multiplayer Achievement to earn, with Two for One right behind it at 6.77% and Overkill nipping at its heels (6.75%)
• 8.68% of players have unlocked the Marathon Man Achievement
• 1000/1000 Gamerscore: 2.07%
