Re: A tip for Leopards: Naked Light is released today
Why is that one image on the front page hosted on Flickr? But the rest are on the normal site? Seems oddly unprofessional.

They're likely saving bandwidth.
So yeah... very unprofessional.

This seriously sounds like a ui slapped on core animation and not much else.

Unfortunately, it looks like this developer is more interested in putting up a nice looking webpage than actual development.

If you want that try Pixelmator or Acorn. This seriously looks like a hack job.

Reading this makes me wonder why they didn't postponed the release another month or so so that they could fix the worst problems.
WARNING: THIS BETA RELEASE
IS FOR THE ADVENTUROUS AND
BRAVE OF HEART ONLY
Seriously, most users should wait until the next beta release...It's not a big app though, only 1.2MB. I guess it just works as as framework for many of the flashy builtin functions in Leopard. I wonder how much they want for it when it's finished.
This guy made a huge mistake releasing this now. He should not even have been talking about it yet and he damn sure shouldn't have released software in this state.
Wil Shipley (owner of Delicious-Monster software, one of the original founders of OmniGroup) said the following in a recent talk on Indie Developer Marketing:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Two great lines from his talk. The first regarded attention to detail: “This is all your app is: a collection of tiny details.”
The second regarded how to generate anticipation in advance of a major release. Shipley recommends leaking screenshots, and, near the end, allowing beta testers to start talking about the app publicly. But, as for the app itself: “Don’t announce until it can be downloaded. Don’t let it be downloaded until it can be bought.”
----------------------------------------------------------------
This guy should have followed this advice big time.
