Copying songs from a playlist to other computer?

Hey, I was wondering if there was an easy way to transfer the songs from an iTunes playlist to another computer? I have just above 20000 tracks in my main iTunes library on my iMac but I've made sort of a "best of" playlist that would fit a little more easily on my iBook's HD but I don't know how I would go about copying only those tracks to the Book. I'm pretty sure there's a fairly simple way, but I haven't found it yet. (Damn midterms, they melt your brain...) If it can be of any relevance, I'm running Tiger on both my computers. Thanks a lot.

Re: Copying songs from a playlist to other computer?

Hook up your iBook to your desktop via a Firewire cable and boot the laptop into transfer-disk mode (hold 'T' on laptop while booting up). Then you can transfer anything back and forth easily. If all the same songs are one both the laptop and the desktop, you can just transfer your iTunes Library file (YourName>Music>iTunes) into the same place on the iBook. If not, then you could manually transfer the songs in that playlist to the iBook, then either update the library as above (if all the songs are the same in both places) or just re-create the playlist on the iBook.

Sorry if that was overly complicated for such as simple task!

Unfortunately, there is no way to do it in iTunes even if it is your music, you paid for it, and Apple allows it to be copied.

A better way to get the actual playlist is to put that playlist on an iPod, and copy the music from the iPod to the iBook.

I would burn the playlist onto a DVD (or CD if it fits) in MP3 or data mode and just take it from your main computer and pop it into the laptop. But I'm simple like that.

Unless it involves 3 cables, holding down a startup key combo, and 2 different shareware programs....

That's the way I was going, but I didn't feel like erasing my iPod's content. Seems like it's really going to be the easiest way, since the playlist is about 6 GB and I don't have a DVD burner. Thanks everyone!

That's exactly what I want to do, copy my ipod music to my new ibook. When I connect the iPod I don't see anyway to copy it to the iBook.

It's an anti-piracy measure. Search iPod at versiontracker or macupdate for a million third party options.
