Humbled

I got a letter from my universities Financial Aid and Awards friday that stated I was selected for an award.  I hadn't applied for anything.  So, today I pick up my name tag for the ceremony, and it lists the award as:

The Fred Billows Memorial Scholarship

I had no idea what it was.  So I goggled it, and it came up with this:

Income from the endowment to be awarded annually to a student who has completed FINA286, has a passion for photography and has a serious interest in pursuing a career in photography. No application necessary. Faculty selection.

I am stunned

This is a faculty selected award, and it means that out of all the students in the fine arts department at the university (and it's not a HUGE department) I was selected.

I am totally stoked!  No idea how much, but I will know on Friday.  If I will be as happy as the faculty member I talked to said I will be (very, according to her) it will be a huge thing... giving me enough to do my Christmas shopping earlier.  Anyhow... I just had to blow my own horn a little!

Re: Humbled

Congrats.  Nothing like getting a little praise from your professors, not to mention a little money as a result of it.

Re: Humbled

As a new small business owner, there's nothing like cutting a check to show some faith in the future employee or student.

Put up some pictures from your portfolio.    I'm definitely interested.

Maybe your English professors are telling you something? wink

Congratulations! And thanks for posting the links to the pictures--they demonstrate that the award is well-deserved.
