Firewire port not working

I have a 17" G4 iMac my firewire port does not work. I have tried everything I can think of PRAM, PMU reset, reinstalling Tiger. I know the drive and cable work just fine as I have plugged the drive in my brother's computer which is identical to mine. When I go to system profiler under firewire it says : FireWire Bus:
Maximum Speed:Up to 400 Mb/sec

When I plug my drive in it says the same thing. Any other suggestions on this besides buying a new Mac? wink
