JA UB and Leopard 10.5.1 crashing when joining an MP game

I installed Ja and updated to the latest UB patch.

Whenever I join any MP game it freezes the Mac hard and I have to power off.

Tried it with and without the latest JA+

I have a brand new 24 Inch iMac with a Radeon 2600HD Pro and I have updated to the latest firmware.

All my other games play fine including the recently UB patched Halo.

Is anyone else having problems?

Help meh!!!

I haven't updated to 10.5 yet, so I dunno... Probably not much luck that Aspyr would patch such an old game either, though it might be worth a shot to write their tech support. Have you tried trashing the plist and any other preference files hiding out around Library?

And if you do get it running again, hit me up for a game some time wink

Re: JA UB and Leopard 10.5.1 crashing when joining an MP game

Yeah I did all that. here's my thread with Aspyr:

Star Wars: Jedi Academy

Any time I load JA MP it freezes as soon as I join a multiplayer game, even one I created. I have tried every combination of video settings, resolution, vsync on/off, bit depth, filters, all turned low, high, on and off and all audio settings.

Single player loads and plays fine, but MP crashes instantly upon loading a map.

Uninstalled, re-installed, repaired permissions, zapped PRAM to no avail

Hello, Rafer. Thanks for contacting us.

Make certain you have the universal binary patch for Jedi Academy, available here: http://support.aspyr.com/index.php?x=&a … mp;root=76 This patch updates the game for Intel Macs, and should resolve these problems you are experiencing.

Please note that at this time, Jedi Academy's full compatibility with Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) is not guaranteed. As this is a new version of Mac OS, changes that have been made to the operating system's code can result in issues in playing or launching games released prior to it. This is something that we are continuing to monitor, however, and we are in frequent communication with Apple regarding any recurring issues, so that updates made in the future may take these into account. As always, it's best to check your Software Update regularly.

Let us know if you have any questions. Have a good day!

Hello,

This is a title that will need to be looked into. We have not had a great deal of support requests for this title on OS X 10.5(Leopard).

Have a nice day,

Hmmm.... Out of curiosity, does it work without the UB patch? I.e., running /w Rosetta?

Hello,

Please keep in mind, that at this time, the game's full compatibility with Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) is not guaranteed.

Also, we are currently working diligently with Apple to get these issues resolved. Since none of our titles were ever tested or approved for play on the ATI HD video card that is in the new Aluminum iMacs, we cannot support any of our games on these machines at this time.
Apple did just release an Open GL update specifically for New iMac with the ATI 2400/2600 in them. You can download it here via the Apple Software Update.

If you have not done so, you can subscribe to our newsletter (https://www.aspyr.com/news/newsletter_signup), which is sent out via email on a monthly basis. This newsletter is where we announce new projects. We also have a project status page at our website that shows what is being worked on.

With Apple constantly releasing new hardware it is impossible for us to develop games that are guarantied to work on any future hardware configurations. With that in mind, it is a good idea to wait a couple of weeks before purchasing any new software for brand new machines. It is also a good idea to contact the software developer to see if there are any problems with any software you are considering purchasing for a brand new machine.

Again, I assure you that we are working hard with Apple to get these issues with the ATI video card and Leopard worked out.

Thanks for your patience.

Have a nice day,confused

If it is something to do with the graphics card, maybe try running with OpenGL Profiler from the Developer Tools and launch with a different graphics driver?
