Fox Vehicles Vandalized

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/fox_ … ode=42D4-1

In his syndicated column out this week, O’Reilly described attacks on Fox that border on violence.

“I saw the anti-Fox hatred first-hand when I traveled to New Hampshire. Fox News vehicles have been vandalized; FNC reporters cursed; and all Fox News personnel are cautious,” the cable news star writes.

O’Reilly also detailed in his column an encounter he had at a Barack Obama rally, which was aired on “The O’Reilly Factor.” O’Reilly described an Obama staffer’s attempt to block his camera crew “a blatant assault on press freedom.”

O’Reilly says the anger towards Fox is due to the network’s ratings success, which has created “a bitterness unprecedented in the U.S. press.

Crap like this will win the Republicans the next election.
The left needs to seriously check their hate.

HAH,
"blatant assault on press freedom".

You have freedom of speech all you want, but if you're gonna be a dick, or report things wrongly, don't cry when someone is unhappy.

lol

You've got to be smurfing kidding me.

Uh, the only people who were pissed off at Fox in New Hampshire were Ron Paul's followers....you've heard of Ron Paul, the Republican candidate?

By the way....you might want to look into the shoving incident involving O'Reilly (in which the Secret Service eventually had to get involved in order to distance him from Obama) before you accept his version of the incident.

Are you on the payroll over there at Fox or what?

Re: Fox Vehicles Vandalized

Secret Service officials separated O'Reilly and Obama aide Marvin Nicholson after the Fox News Channel personality grabbed Nicholson on a post-speech rope line in a high-school gym here. According to a witness, O'Reilly reached with two hands for Nicholson -- who at 6-foot-8 had a slight height advantage over O'Reilly -- because he stood between O'Reilly's cameraman and Obama as the newsman called out for the candidate's attention.

"He started pushing me and telling me to get out of his shot," Nicholson told reporters afterwards. "Then he said I was 'low-class.' "

"He called me 'low-class' after he started shoving me," Nicholson clarified.

O'Reilly, interviewed afterward by phone on Fox News, said he tried "to gently remove" Nicholson because he was standing in front of Fox's camera, the Associated Press reported.

"We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation, but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor." It is not going to happen," O'Reilly said.

lol

It's fine to say he's full of hate.
When has he damaged another persons or corporations property?

The press was denied access.

You don't have a problem with that?

Let their reporting stand on its own, but to deny them access because you don't like the point of view they portray is against everything freedom of the press is all about.

"The press was denied access" ??  Yeah, I'm denied access to tell President Bush what I think of his policies, don't you have a problem with that ?

That's absurd, at no point does O'Reilly even suggest that "the left" was behind the attacks on Fox vehicles.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Ron Paul supports, as there's YouTube out there of RP supporters being pretty rowdy towards Fox News.

Seriously, stop reading Newsmax....

the article wrote:

O’Reilly says the anger towards Fox is due to the network’s ratings success, which has created “a bitterness unprecedented in the U.S. press.
...
“So it comes as no surprise that Fox News, which gives equal time to conservative thought, is despised by many in the liberal press."
...
O’Reilly added: “Note that the GOP candidates haven’t played that game, appearing on ultra-liberal MSNBC and every other news network.”

Anger towards Fox News because of a cable networks ratings ?  "Equal time" to conservative "thought" ??  "MSNBC is "ultra-liberal" ??

What do you even know about what happened, anyway?  You offer a link from newsmax (lol) citing an O'Reilly column (lol) which contained this gem:

O’Reilly also detailed in his column an encounter he had at a Barack Obama rally, which was aired on “The O’Reilly Factor.” O’Reilly described an Obama staffer’s attempt to block his camera crew “a blatant assault on press freedom.”

O’Reilly says the anger towards Fox is due to the network’s ratings success, which has created “a bitterness unprecedented in the U.S. press.

Right....an "attempt to block his camera crew," not a physical attack by O'Reilly upon an Obama staffer in which the Secret Service had to get involved.

I can't seem to find any other reference to this incident.  What actually happened, and how many incidents were there?

Forgive me for not taking O'Reilly's word....I know you adore him, but the man has been caught telling lies on numerous occasions.

Re: Fox Vehicles Vandalized

A highlight from O'Reilly's unhinged rant:

The reason the Democratic candidates boycotted Fox News was that the far-left Internet crazies told them to do it. Websites like the Daily Kos and Media Matters, which spit out anti-conservative hatred everyday, made it clear to the Democrats that anyone dealing with Fox would be punished. The creepy radical-left organization MoveOn.org, which raises serious money for liberal candidates, seconded the motion.

I find O'Reilly's absolute hatred of Media Matters to be most entertaining, being as though the cite often does little more than offer direct quotes of the moronic things O'Reilly says on his program.

Oh here's O'Reilly's full statement (because you couldn't even expect that from newsmax):

Anyway, I saw the anti-Fox hatred firsthand when I traveled to New Hampshire last week. Fox News vehicles have been vandalized, FNC correspondents cursed, and all Fox News personnel are cautious. Although the far-left nuts are generally the problem, some supporters of Congressman Ron Paul are also out of control.

So it is OK to limit their freedom because you deem them not to be the press.
That's a very dangerous line of thought.

BratBoy - if O'Reilly has the events wrong, do you have a link explaining how it really went down?

What you provided is the testimony of the person blocking the access to the press. What I have is the testimony of the person who's access was blocked.

There are two sides to every story.

Do you really think it was coincidence that a 6'8" Obama aide was between the Fox camera and the shot? Do you not take yourself out of the way of a camera when you are blocking someone's shot? I do - and I would think that would be pretty standard for any aide of politician at a media event - yet there was a 6'8" aide to Obama between Fox News and their shot. Coincidence? I think not.

Obviously....I linked to one above.  It says "according to a witness."  I also offered your O'Reilly's own words, where he asserted "no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor."

What you provided is the testimony of the person blocking the access to the press. What I have is the testimony of the person who's access was blocked.

No, I offered the words of a witness.  Additionally, you can go onto youtube and watch video of O'Reilly pushing the man.

Are you asserting that O'Reilly suffered a constitutional violation of the press?  That the First Amendment requires that the view of a politician must be unobstructed by his staffers at a campaign rally?  Further, are you asserting that the proper response was for O'Reilly to push the man and call him "low class?"

Take a stand, if that's the case.

Any luck finding any reference at all to this supposed "vandalism" of Fox News equipment?  I couldn't come up with a single story.

Re: Fox Vehicles Vandalized

The incident was triggered when O'Reilly--with a Fox News crew shooting--was screaming at Obama National Trip Director Marvin Nicholson "Move" so he could get Obama's attention, according to several eyewitnesses. "O'Reilly was yelling at him, yelling at his face," a photographer shooting the scene said.

O'Reilly grabbed Nicholson's arm and shoved him, another eyewitness said. Nicholson, who is 6'8, said O'Reilly called him "low class."

"He grabbed me with both his hands here," Nicholson said, gesturing to his left arm and O'Reilly "started shoving me." Nicholson said, " He was pretty upset. He was yelling at me."

Secret Service agents who were nearby flanked O 'Reilly after he pushed Nicholson. They told O'Reilly he needed to calm down and get behind the fence-like barricade that contained the press.

Link.

The funniest thing about the newsmax article is this description of "attacks on Fox that border on violence."

The only substantiated account of "violence" involves an act carried out by O'Reilly.
