Tobacco, I have a serious allergy to it and it raises my taxes to pay for the medical treatment from it's use. It has wrecked my grandma's health and has killed my aunt.
If you smoke I don't wish you harm, I just wish that you'd quit and be healthy.
Bad drivers, especially ones who don't recognize bikes as vehicles and act aggressively towards me just because I'm faster than them in traffic (talking to you jerk with the Lexus now missing your passenger side mirror).
Suburban kids who think they are so "thug-life", spend a week in a Ugandan slum and then tell me if you think your life is rough.
People who have no interest in reducing their impact on the planet, I am a firm believer in Karma and I am sure that the world is going to bite you in the ass sooner or later so wake up.
People who are cruel to animals, this is a big one for me as I am the owner of two rescue animals. I believe that you should never do to an animal what you would not want done to yourself.
And lastly from my commute this morning on the Subway. People who do not give up their seats for pregnant ladies or the elderly. I am damn tired of having to be the one to tell someone to get out of their seat and give it to someone who really needs it. If I wasn't a big mean looking guy I am certain that no one would have moved. This also goes out to everyone else on the subway who do nothing to help those who need it.

I hate people who make unnecessary amounts of noise. Like my roommate. Who can only slam doors, cabinets, the dishwasher, the microwave, break dishes and talk loudly on the phone when she knows I am sleeping or studying or any other time of the day.
My roommate does exactly this. What's more, (This drives me up the wall) he has this habit of doing things out in the living room, but it's like he so people-attention starved, he does this:
1. Gets up
2. Opens our room door
3. Looks in to see what I'm doing
4. Closes the door.
5. Goes back to the living room.
Drives me insane. Either come in or stay the smurf out. He does it 10-15 times a day.
He also showers 3-4 times a day, and we split the water bill.

I hate it when people don't do that.
And when they use mute for moot, axe for ask, and there for their.

Re: Pet Peeves
I just hate people in general. Spending a lot of time in NYC, that's not a good thing.
Slow walkers bother me. Granted, I probably walk a bit quicker than the average Joe, but I get what I like to call "Sidewalk Rage" when I'm stuck behind these morons who crawl at a snail's pace, decide to stop randomly in the middle of a walking traffic area, etc. And I'm not just talking about tourists. The locals are just as, if not more guilty.
Also, when we have a train full of hundreds of people, all trying to get out from underground, why on Earth do people not WALK UP the escalators? People hop on the thing, and then just freakin' stand there while a giant mass of people build up behind them. Just treat the thing as a set of stairs that will get you up it quicker, people! RA!
Plenty of other little things get my goat, but those are the ones that get me on a daily basis.
I like individuals, and hanging out in small groups, but I absolutely hate the "general public" and really try to avoid crowds.

Re: Pet Peeves
Most of mine are driving related:
People who don't use their blinkers.
People who throw their cigarette butts out their car window.
People who pass me on the highway and then drive slower.
Or religious:
People who assume I am wrong because I am not Christian.
People who try to sell me on their religion.
People who are naïve enough to believe that their favored religious text is 100% right about everything.

Yeah, I only did that when there were no cars to my left or behind me for a good distance. I've given up smoking in the car now, though.

That doesn't make it better or okay. The issue is the fact that you were littering, not that your butt may have hit my car.

That's a good first step!
[aside] The building my business is in also has the local Sheet Metal Workers Union Training Center. Several times a month they hold training sessions and probably around 30 or 40 guys show up. Afterwards the parking lot is completely littered with cigarette butts -- literally hundreds of them. I find that quite disgusting. Why is it that cigarette smokers just don't notice that their butts are trash? smurfing crush the thing out and put the butt in a garbage can. [/aside]

Well, not ALL of them
I'll also sign up for a lot of the pet peeves regarding religion.
Oh, and what's with people who spit on sidewalks? I mean, I understand that sometimes there is a need to spit, but how hard is it to work your way to the curb, a trash can, etc? I see far too many people just splat one out right where people are going to walk.
That's why I don't like people. I see a lot of lack of consideration for others. I'm by no means perfect, but I at least try not to get in peoples' way or have a negative impact on what's going on around me.

This, and I hate it when people can't even aim for the general middle of an allotted space. Had some bozo parked crooked next to my car when I was starting out at college, with only an inch between the fronts of our cars. Had to get in from the passenger side, and I smacked the door of his car with my door a few times in some sort of reptilian-brain rage.
tl;dr: Learn to park, don't take up two spaces, and stay out of handicapped spots if you don't have a legit hanger.
Or just don't buy a car you can't park.

American usage is for the comma or period to always go inside the quotation marks, British usage deems that the comma or period goes inside if it's part of the quotation and outside otherwise.

No.....not in the United States. Perhaps you're thinking of exclamation points or question marks, which are placed outside of the quotation mark (depending on the quote).

Not me. I LOVE it when people do this, especially in the dark when you can see the sparks fly all over the place when the butt hits the ground. MOST especially when driving in fire hazard areas.

When people say "aks" instead of "ask".
Not using a turn signal
People who stand in doorways or on stairway landings
People who rush into trains or elevators without waiting for people to exit
The phrase "back in the day"
Most usage of the term "old school" (90% of the time it is applied to something less than 5 years old)
anyone associated with American Idol

Thats actually a small pleasure to me. It gives me a chance to turn around, drop my pitch and say "METAL GEAR!?" It interrupts their call most successfully.

Only one punctuation mark(period, question mark, or exclamation point) goes at the end of a sentence.
If what you're quoting would normally have a punctuation mark, then you quote that punctuation mark. If said mark is a period and doesn't end the sentence, replace it with a comma.
