Huckabee: ‘amend the Constitution’ to ‘God’s standards.’

I'm not entirely sure where he's going with this....
I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than trying to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family.

So....good idea? One that has any chance whatsoever of winning over those much needed "swing voters" in the middle?

President Huckabee could send fact finding missions to Saudi Arabia, Iran and Nigeria to see if the penal code can be brought up to god's standards as well. Why just stop at the constitution?

So...in other word Huckabee hates America, for real, not joking. A presidential candidate proposing we change to a theocracy.
Really rather proves what I have always thought, that evangelicals are opposed to the very foundations this country was built on.

Sure, it may buy him a percentage but I doubt if enough of the whole country will really buy that kind of bullsmurf. Still, we're talking about the stupid voters who re-elected Bush here. 10 years from now we may be hiding out in Carlsbad Caverns and you might be in my face with a lot of "I told you sos." I can't seriously see the Republicans picking him now, though. Too many of their gay marriage amendment attempts have failed on the state level for him to be a viable candidate now that he stuck his big fat foot in his religious mouth, don't you think?

I think some of you would benefit from reading what many of the forefathers wrote.
Here's a document some of you might recognize -

That's exactly what it meant to them.
Note the monotheistic nature of their use, monotheism is Abraham's God.
There have been a few other monotheistic religions in history, but Abrahamic religions are the only ones that survived - really, it was only Judaism that survived, and Christianity and Islam came from Judaism.

What are "God's standards," anyway....and is it appropriate to level them against non-christians--by law--for the simple reason that they are "God's standards?"
Weren't some of the "founders" deists? What do we look to for the "standards" of the deists's god?
What sort of involvement with religion did evangelicals of the founding period seek? Do you even know?
