The new VW's seem a bit better than the Mark III and IV's. The Rabbits and GTI's should be fine, because they come from Wolfsburg again now.

They're too big, though. I want a Polo. C'mon, VW, we don't need a Passat coupe, we need a small, efficient, affordable car.

I'm happy with my 2006 Jetta GLI. It is a much better made car than the 2004 model I had before. Not that that was a bad car, the main reason we traded it in was because it was leased. The 2006 is also the same size as the previous year's Passat, iirc, but it is still not a huge car if you see it parked next another sedan.

As a turbocharged 4 cylinder car, it's both relatively economical, and it has enough power and a big enough profile for driving in SoCal.

This from the guy driving a huge, "sensible Swede" sedan. wink

Man, the turning radius on those things is worse than a hummer...you can't do a U-turn on a 4-lane road in one of those.
