In New Hampshire, you may purchase beer and wine in most grocery stores and convenience stores. Liquor may only be purchased at a State Liquor Store.
Just like you said, it has been this way since the end of Prohibition. Some of them are big and located along interstate highways, like the one in that photo. Others are small, almost "mom and pop" operations. Those are more common in the rural north country.

Re: Beer.

Wow. Here you can get all forms of alcohol in most all the grocery stores. The only store i can recall that didn't sell it all was the now defunct Alpha Beta stores, and it wasn't because of any law. The chain was owned by a mormon (the guy married to Suzanne Somers) and it was his choice not to sell it.

Re: Beer.

Grocery stores here can't sell liquor in with the rest of the groceries (but they can sell beer and wine) so most grocery stores just have a "[Grocery Store Name] Liquor" store attached to but not interconnected with the main grocery store.

Those stores tend to be a little pricey.  I usually just shop here:
They sell wine, beer, and liquor.  I was astonished and frustrated when I discovered over my Christmas trip to New York that no similar store can exist anywhere in the state.

I'm currently enjoying a Key West sunset ale.  I'm not sure if anyone besides Scifter will know what that is...it's a local beer that somehow winds up in the 7-11's.

Re: Beer.

Up here in Canadaland, alki-holl is sold almost exclusively in dedicated liquor stores, and that's pretty much it.  No supermarket or grocers.

I'm having a few St Ambroise Oatmeal Stouts in a goblet.  Soooo good!

Re: Beer.

Last night I had a couple bottles of Guinness Extra Stout -not the "draft" variety -I think the extra Stout is underrated.

Tonight I had Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale - I'd classify it as an IPA.

Very nice, I like it just as much as Anchor Liberty Ale, which is probably my favorite of the style.

All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me.
