Re: Favorite sounds

Apparently the Packers didn't hear me rooting for them, crap.

Back to the thread, I love the sound of a summer thunderstorm, with the rain on the roof and thunder rolling in the distance. I love a babies laugh when they get rolling with that full-on belly laugh.

The last sounds that really makes me smile and feel good inside is the sound of a heartbeat. I love laying next to someone and hearing their heart beat or just practicing for my cardiology units in school so I can listen to recorded heart beats. There's something very soothing about it.

Ooh, that's a good one.  The sound of someone's heart beat slowing, slowing...slowing...slowing...stopping, as you tighten your grip on their neck...then the thud when their body hits the floor.  Definitely a good one.  wink

Back to reality:

Sitting in the passenger seat on a long drive, dozing in and out of sleep, with the soft hum of the engine and the quiet whistle of the wind breezing by, with a good friend in the driver's seat, knowing that where you were was worth the while and where you're going will be even better.

Re: Favorite sounds

Nothing like the sound of snowmobiles.
You gotta love the fans too.... like my iMac's
Or disk drives like on my xbox....
Crunchy snow is a good one too
Most I like have been said.
I do hate, somewhat the Wii's music. I was at Gamestop looking around, and all I could hear was the theme song and it was quite annoying.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the sound of your piper's engine. That has to be an awfully good sound to hear. After all, the lack of it means you're going to be doing some quick thinking quite soon.

Re: Favorite sounds

The best sound in the world is the sound my dog makes when she yawns. It sounds like a rusty door that has just been oiled, a cute, short little squeak. Runner-up is when she'll lay down next to me, put her head on my leg or lap, and just take a deep breath and let out this big sigh.

Re: Favorite sounds

I love my cats, and I love petting them, but I hate the sound of purring. It makes me feel like there's something in my throat and I can't breathe. On the other hand, I do love when they talk to me but not purring(but that's not so much the sound but the sentiment).

I also love the sound of rain. Downpours, drizzles, whatever. I love it. I love the white noise of the heater going during the night, or the wind blowing outside. Or of water running down a river.

And not that you were referring to music, but I'm almost always listening to music. In this order, I tend to prefer pianos, guitars, and drums or violins.

Just about any sound my daughter makes, aside from barfing and crying

Rainstorms

A campfire (the smell is even better)

The ocean

The whir of studded bike tires at 35km/h

The THX logo sound

Pink Floyd
