I also love the sound of rain. Downpours, drizzles, whatever. I love it. I love the white noise of the heater going during the night, or the wind blowing outside. Or of water running down a river.

And not that you were referring to music, but I'm almost always listening to music. In this order, I tend to prefer pianos, guitars, and drums or violins.

I think you might be the first person to ever tell me he hates the sound of a cat's purr, and I have to say, that reason is bizarre.  Did you have a near-drowning experience as a child or something?

-The sound of hundreds of frogs in the springtime around dusk
-The wind rushing through a forest and the creaking of trees
-The cracking noise when huge sheets of ice over a lake shift and buckle
-Thunderstorms and howling winds
-The sound of perfectly tuned gear shifting on my bikes

I'll dial 110.0 into the top VOR, which is Melbourne.  The bottom VOR depends on where I'm going.

Nah.  No reason to.  I'm flying my own airplane, and there's not a whole lot I can do about other people's emergencies.  If I had my own emergency, and time to switch, I'd put that in.

I tend to avoid military training areas.  I do fly over Patrick AFB from time to time, but then I'm on Patrick's frequency.

I would add to the list a few of the sounds my wife makes at certain NSFW times.  But that's all I have to say about that.

Any sound my kids make, except for that whiny smurf my 3-year-old seems to think is appropriate right now.  Even crying is okay.  Except when it goes on for an hour in the middle of the night after we've already checked to make sure he's not hungry, not poopy, not uncomfortable in any way...  That crying just for the sake of crying can go away.  But any other sound they make is fine with me.

I would think that would be a rare pleasure.
