WoW reaches 10,000,000 subs

Yes, Blizz' MMO has claimed 10 million vic- er, reached the 10 mil sub mark. Pray for them. smile

As a true testament of the potential of the PC gaming mass market, Blizzard today announced another amazing milestone in the continuing popularity of the company’s insanely popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game. World of Warcraft now has more than 10 million subscribers worldwide – more than 2 million subscribers in Europe, more than 2.5 million in North America, and approximately 5.5 million in Asia.

"It's very gratifying to see gamers around the world continuing to show such enthusiasm and support for World of Warcraft," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We're always pleased to welcome new players to the game, and we're looking forward to sharing the next major content update with the entire community in the months ahead."

Aside from World of Warcraft’s apparent competence at delivering the MMO experience, part of its success stems from its worldwide availability. World of Warcraft is currently supported in North America, Europe, China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Furthermore, the game is currently available in seven languages, with a Russian version in development and scheduled for release later this year.

Even though World of Warcraft has been on the market since 2004, it shows little signs of slowing down. Blizzard is currently working on the game’s second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King.

That is so sad.  I still have yet to ever play WoW.  It claims far to many lives.  Besides the only games that entertain me are shooters.

I've thought about going back, but continue to resist.

Is that active or total?

I still get an itch to play now and then, but I just don't feel like any kind of grind anymore.  Hence going back to FPS.

I'm an RPG man myself and never got into the whole MMO scene. Gimme a game with a story and a conclusion any day. If it has a free online aspect beyond that I'll consider looking into thay.

Oh there is a conclusion

"What have I done with my life?"

But that comes after spending $200 and a two years on it.

You'd love Mass Effect. Half way through now and can't wait to start again. The next time around will be a bad ass instead of my current self sacrificing goody two shoes. So good in fact that I passed up the opportunity to get laid.

That doesn't count, IMO.

With this new news I have a new sig.

24hrs/day X 356 days/year = 8760 hrs/year divide this into the 10mil played hours is 1141.55 years. :dropsjaw:

Wholeheartedly agreed maleko.

Casual play is ok, but you have to be careful or else it can take you over.
I was at a semi-family reunion and I wasn't even aware that one of my cousins was even there. Turns out he was locked away in his room the whole day playing WoW. Couldn't even come down to say hi. My brother was warned not to go in there.
Jeez, the guy is 28...

Yeah i'll mess around on the 360 again when I get the last 2k rep for my drake which i'll probably get tomorrow night. All those XBL problems forced me to WoW more and finally getting stuff done.

Agreed.  It definitely changes the way I view it.  I suppose either way it's still amazing/pathetic.  My lust for a 360 to play Mass Effect grows daily.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.
