Re: Favorite sounds
What a cool topic!
My favorite sound is the sound of snowboarding. It's this combination of the board sliding over the snow, the wind whistling through your helmet, sped-up breath, accelerated heartbeat. If the snow is fresh and deep, of course it's quieter, so that's when we punctuate the air with woo-hoos.
I also like the sound of a beer bottle being opened. What can I say, I love beer.

I like the sound of crashing surf combined with the sent of the sea. It brings me home.

HELMET?!?!?! I thought everyone just wore those goofy little headband things when they skied or snowboarded. Damn TV telling me LIES!!!
Oh, and to quote the great Homer Simpson: "Mmmmm.....beeeeeeer!"
I forgot to mention the sound of electronic guitars. Especially like in the opening of Bulls on Parade by RATM.

I love going to a little cabin in the mountains because you can sit outside and enjoy the most wonderful sounds. The wind in the trees, the creek behind the house, the birds singing in the trees. When I go there I am most at peace and therefore think these are my favorite sounds.
I also like to hear a fish jump in the water because I know it's on the end of my hook.
I love the sound of thunder, especially at night.
If you don't like sappy stuff stop reading now.
I like to hear my husband say he loves me. That one is at the very top of the charts.
Oh and the crackle of a campfire.

I love my cats, and I love petting them, but I hate the sound of purring. It makes me feel like there's something in my throat and I can't breathe. On the other hand, I do love when they talk to me but not purring(but that's not so much the sound but the sentiment).
I also love the sound of rain. Downpours, drizzles, whatever. I love it. I love the white noise of the heater going during the night, or the wind blowing outside. Or of water running down a river.
And not that you were referring to music, but I'm almost always listening to music. In this order, I tend to prefer pianos, guitars, and drums or violins.I think you might be the first person to ever tell me he hates the sound of a cat's purr, and I have to say, that reason is bizarre. Did you have a near-drowning experience as a child or something?
No, I just have some interesting sensory issues. The feel of static electricity makes me feel like I can't breathe, too.
I've heard that rubbing dryer sheets on things helps, but I'm allergic to fabric softener.
