We could always fire up some good ole' prohibition again and see how it goes, it was so wildly popular the last time.

Oh wait, we do have a prohibition in this country right now. It's real popular too and just about as successful as the first time around. wink

Oh, we've tied that from 1916-1924. didn't work too well.

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. It is simply too painful to acknowledge even to ourselves that we've been so credulous. -Carl Sagan

I've been around enough alcoholics in my life to know what can happen to people, so don't tell me that alcohol can't change a person. I know for a fact it can.

It can't. Sorry to say it, as it doesn't reflect too brilliantly on myself, either, but alcohol doesn't change people, it removes inhibition. In other words: it can bring facets of our personalities to the surface that we normally suppress.

Your Dr. Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde analogy may have been a lot more apt than intended.

Please do!  It'd love to move to St. Pierre and become a rum runner!  Oh, the danger, the money, the romance...
