Selling a mac w/ software installed?

Hey folks. I'm going to be selling my old G5 soon. It's got a lot of high end software on it, like Adobe CS3 studio, Final cut studio, etc. Silly question, is it "legal" to sell it with that software pre installed, and still use it on my new mac? Or if not, what if I had the latest version on my new mac since I have upgrades for em.. and use the previous version on the one I sell?

I was just thinking the software on it might help someone wanna buy it, like if they want to get a cheaper editing / design system..?

Not sure if it's legal, but I have bought computers like that in the past.

The problem (besides it being illegal) is that if they ever have to reinstall the OS from scratch they are gonna lose all that software and have no way of getting it back.  One hard drive crash is all it will take to make the deal not such a good one.

It is only legal if you give them the original software, at which point you no longer have license to use it. At least with most commercial licenses, you probably should read the licenses of the software you plan to bundle on it.

If it were legal, Dell would only need to buy one copy of all the software out there to install it for all their customers ...

yeah good point. maybe I'll just wipe it clean for em. I could give them the disks for the earlier versions maybe, but I need to keep em for myself since everything else I have is an upgrade version.

res is correct, you have to give them the original disk which means you can't use the programs anymore.
