Aerobeds v.2
Right after i moved, i started a thread about Aerobeds, and there were mixed responses. Then purchasing one got put on the back burner. Since then, i've slept on a no name brand air mattress that really sucked bad. It kept deflating while i slept. It was like sleeping on one of those mattresses you put in the pool to lounge on. You know the one. The original long skinny one with the inflated pillow.
I seriously reconsidered getting one at all, and then i saw an Aerobed with a price too good to pass up, so i bought one. I had guests that slept on it and said it slept great. I also laid on it for extended periods of time and it never lost firmness.
So, if any of you are considering getting an air bed, make sure it's an Aerobed.

Re: Aerobeds v.2
Personally I hate to sleep on air mattresses. My parents have one very similar it does not loose firmness, but all the little lumps and bumps of an air mattress just give me an uneasy sleep and I wake up stiff. I admit if you are camping, or need something in a pinch, they're ok, but would never use them to sleep on every night.

i rather sleep on the floor, myself. last year, when i spent a night at mom's, she let me sleep on the aerobed because "it's so comfy!". pfft. next time, i'm bringing my sleeping bag and spend the night on the floor.
i guess it's just me, but i don't like them.
Hell is waking up every goddamn day and not even knowing why you're here.

Re: Aerobeds v.2
We've been sleeping on an air mattress for about three years now, and like it just fine.
I bought a Wal-Mart version of a Sleep Number. The air bladder is surrounded by a foam layer, and covered like a regular mattress. The difference is that there is no number index system for recalling a setting. There is only one control, with a left and right up and down. Also, I presume the quality of the materials is somewhat less than the brand name. Otherwise, I'm quite satisfied.

When you get to be my age, it doesn't matter if the floor's carpeted or not. I WILL sleep on the floor if the only other option is a chair or really uncomfortable couch, though.

I, too will sleep on the floor.
But there must be plenty of alcohol involved in the pre-bedtime ritual.

Re: Aerobeds v.2
I love the floor because it really helps my back. There are times at night where I'll just gently roll out of bed and sleep on my back on the floor. Ah, sweet relief!

Left in couch form for comfort & convenience sake
I also cant get to sleep without my back to something which is awkward otherwise because the only way for me to sleep on my back is when I use a noisy & awkward CPAP machine.
