Sick last minute CompUSA deals - discuss
I have a CompUSA near my house, the Salem, NH, location. The store has been getting wiped clean but two weeks ago I scored a $300 Athena Sub for a $100 (yeah, if you look you could get one online for $149). Also when there I saw that Leopard could be had for $65, .Mac for $50 (I would not even pay $50 for .Mac), and other Mac Softwar was also 1/2 price. There was also a Mac Pro tower (store demo) for 20% off at that time.
Well, since I think their last day is tomorrow I went in late today hoping to get lucky and pick up a Harmony 880 for $140 as everything was now 70 to 80% off. They had sold the last one in the morning. Rummaging around with a bizillion others I suddenly see the best deal that I've ever seen. A pair of Athena WS-100 rear speakers remained just out of view of the frenzied shoppers (there were 6 or so the week prior that they were asking $300 off the normal $600 asking price. I knew these were good speakers from researching my athena sub after purchase. Well, I got the speakers at 70% off - I Paid $180 for the normally priced $600 speakers (no sales tax in NH). After hooking everything up to my theater system I checked quickly online for the best deal. Amazon has then for $500! Woot, I did get a great deal and my now 5.1 system sounds insane.
Anybody else get any incredible deals at CompUSA over the last week? The store did not have much left at all today which is why I was so surprised to find these speakers (they were carelessly put in an area not to be noticed). There was also only one MacPro their (it's been there since I had been stopping in - floor model) that they now have for 30% off. I wonder what will happen to it? All other Laptops were 50%. PC shoppers really were getting some good deals.

That's cool that you found some great deals. However, my local CompUSA was slated to go early last year and there wasn't anything very good in the Mac product section. Ah well, we're getting an Apple store in Fairfax that's much closer to my house so I'm happy.
I don't mean to sidetrack, but has anyone ever been to a store opening? Is it crazy, or is it fun? Cuz I wanna go.

Which store is that? I know about Clarendon, Tysons Corner, and Pentagon City. But I didn't know that Apple is building a 4th store. Not that I'm complaining or anything...

The CompUSA near my house doesn't have much left. All the PC notebooks are 30% off, which is a good deal, but the one MacBook and one 15-inch MBP they had were only 15% off, and they were the previous models. The MacBook was a white 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo for $949, and it was pretty beat up. You can get a refurbished 2.2GHz Core 2Duo from Apple for $999.

Apple is going to open a store in Fair Oaks Mall. I prefer going there than going to Tysons Corner Mall, 'cuz Tysons is nuts on the weekend. I checked Apple's website they don't say when it'll open but they are hiring, so I guess that means soon.
