Presenting... 3D games in your browser...

After months of ludicrous hours (thus my absence from the board), mind-numbing javascript and a few secret ingredients, I present:
http://www.instantaction.com/

It is the first public peek into our site.  Granted it is a teaser site, but it signifies that we are starting our public alpha.

It was built by a very small team. The site was done 4 devs and two designers.   I handled mainly the site structure and ui. But we all wore many hats.  There was also a team working on the plugin, the games team and a kick-ass qa department.  Mind boggling work, but we pulled off this first stage.  We have some awesome games lined up for the first of the year, the list on the site now are just the ones we are working on at the moment.

Probably one of the most challenging projects I have been involved with, but definitely the most satisfying.

Congrats. Looks like some fun games and a nice intro too. What technology does it use for the client side?

The plugin is developed in-house.  The game technology varies from game to game, but the in-house games are built using the next generation Torque game engine.

Yes, I know it's an old topic. But it's still relevant!

Hey Scott, no idea if you still check the boards, but I got accepted to the private beta of Instant Action (yey). I can play it on my windows machines, but no dice on my Mac. Any chance of Mac compatibility? Can you even give a statement regarding that? wink

Re: Presenting... 3D games in your browser...

Mac is in the works.
We have a beta forum here: http://forum.beta.instantaction.com/smf/

And brief glance will reveal that it is quite a popular topic.  (not as much as Legions, though).   We considered Mac at various stages, but it was not a high priority.  After our first press release, MacWorld ran an article on us, and they said that it would support Macs... which we never said. The following week our traffic skyrocketed with something like 70% coming from Macs.   It was outrageous numbers and traffic.  We were getting more from MW than large game sites.  We started taking it much more seriously.

So, it is in the works, we have met with Apple (who were very supportive and helpful), and we will do it as soon as we can.  To early to say when yet.  We have a heck of a time supporting just the three browsers and two OSs right now let alone another platform.   But we are serious about it and we have folks working on the plugin now.

I am stoked about it, I play it now in bootcamp and it works awesome on my MBP, and I can play Marbleblast on Parallels 3.

We are now live!  Today we opened up the beta to the public.
