He always seems huge, but it may have something to do with his general demeanor.Henry is pretty short, like 5'6" or so. I'm 6ft.
5'9"
Huh, seemed shorter than that when I met him.

Re: I have lost 55 pounds.
Congrats Pariah! It is good to know someone out there actually did it. I've been working on getting my weight from 240 to 180 for quite some time. I'm at 195, so I'm just 15 away from my goal. Like you I feel so much better throughout the day and the various pains in my body have gone away.
Best of luck to all those out there trying to improve their health!

Re: I have lost 55 pounds.
I have to admit that shedding pounds is pretty easy for me. It's kinda weird because, generally speaking I am not one possessed of a great deal of impulse control but in the area of food it is easy for me to simply "decide" to loose some weight and I just do.
It helps that I have an active job too.

I've been on an ice cream free diet for 5 weeks ago. Just sort of happened.

Congratulations. I bet Sadie is happy - daddy has more energy to play outside with her.

I love hearing about people like you, because that means you and I have a lot in common in the determination area. I also lost 50-60 pounds. That was over two years ago.

Congrats, P! That's a huge accomplishment!
My advice: do not want to cut out fat completely. Stick to monounsaturated fats that are found in nuts, olives, olive oil, avocados, etc. and eat them in moderation. Keep your protein sources lean too, and do not overeat on starches like bread and pasta. Your carbs should come from eating plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Too complicated.
I just try to avoid all the fat I can and my metabolism thrives on carbs so those are never a problem.

I find a lot of people like to give all kinds of specific advice, but as Pariah pointed out, the individual doing the losing knows what's best, even if it doesn't make sense to some.

Re: I have lost 55 pounds.
I have this theory that there is an inverse proportion with the amount of diet books read and the amount of weight actually lost. Actually, if anything my anecdotal observation leads me to believe that diet books may actually cause people to get fat.
I like to keep it simple: Stay away from gloppy fatty foods and eat things that swam or grew in the dirt for the most part.

If I were eating earthworms out of my backyard I would still be eating much healthier than all the people who eat fast food daily. That's one hard rule in my food plan: No fast food and very little restaurant food.
With a few notable exceptions prepared food, even in decent places, is loaded up with extra fat and salt to appeal to the piggish masses.
