Guitar Hero Oh Noes
Beatles Guitar Hero Game Coming?
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Activision's Guitar Hero franchise could get the right to use the lucrative Beatles song library for a future game in the series. ..snip:
Martin N. "Marty" Bandier, the top executive at the music publishing company that owns the John Lennon- Paul McCartney copyrights, said he liked the idea of a dedicated Beatles edition of Guitar Hero, Activision Inc.'s hugely popular video-game franchise.
"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," said Bandier, who last year took over as chairman and chief executive at Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

They are two completely different things.
That being said, I think Guitar Hero: The Beatles would suck as much as Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (already announced), or Guitar Hero 3.
Rock Band is where it's at!

Don't get me started on Guitar Hero Aerosmith.
That announcement led me to run out and buy Rock Band. Still, which ever franchise is released with the Beatles will get my lunch money.

Re: Guitar Hero Oh Noes
Guitar Hero: Beatles would be the perfect title for Activision to add drums and a mic to the mix. As pocketbook jarring as it would be, I'd buy at least the game... and hope for a hack to let Rock Band instruments work with it. But only if it isnt full of covers rather than the actual Beatles.

How is that bad? Seems like it'd be fun to play '73-'91 anyway...

Re: Guitar Hero Oh Noes
I know why they picked Aerosmith. The band has a large fan base and everyone knows their songs. I personally, find them about one step above a bar band. That's just my opinion.
I'm sure it'll sell better then my choices for Guitar Hero. I will list those here, in no particular order, for all to mock.

Re: Guitar Hero Oh Noes
the whole "dedicated" game thing that activision is doing is stupid.
variety is what makes these game fun.
and, just like albums have weak tracks. no band has an entire setlist that i would want to play, let alone discography.
not to mention, that any of these stupid stand alone games could just be downloadable content for one they've already released.
rockband is killin' guitar hero these days.

I can't believe how quickly this went from cool underground indie game to gigantic, crappy, corporate sellout.
...just like a real band!

I dunno...I like it. If you like a specific band, I think it would be cool to follow along thru a career mode of sorts...and if you don't like the band, don't buy it, eh? I personally have liked aerosmith since I was in 4th grade...and they were the first band I saw live (5th grade), so I'm pretty stoked to pick this one up. Like I mentioned earlier tho, everything past '91...meh....

Re: Guitar Hero Oh Noes
Personally, I want "Guitar Hero: Opeth Edition" so I can strum my way through some 10+ minute long progressive death metal songs. If you thought "One" and "Through the Fire and Flames" demanded stamina...

Yep, I'd rather play any of those than Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.
