Rockin' it, old-school
I'm not the biggest trick-vid fan, but...
Rockin' it, old-school.
Ducain sent along this link to a video done by SneakyPete. It's been a while since I watched a Halo 1 (well, in this case, Halo PC) trick vid... but man, this guy is GOOD. Check it out - for nostalgia, for smiles, just for the heck of it. YouTube-hosted. (Louis Wu 14:54:00 UTC) (permalink)

I saw a similar trick video a week or so ago, and my jaw dropped. Its amazing how good some of these guys have gotten with Halo's grenade physics.

I still hope to have H2V hosted on MA3, and play it there. Been awfully delayed, but those HD cutscenes remind me how muchly I want to. Books and Levi both have it. Had to put the above up as H1 was all we officially played.. hope you'll run H2V on your newer hardware soonish.
But Louis did just put this up yesterday..
Tricking Up a Storm
Wow. Ducain pointed out this newspost at High Impact Halo - seems a bunch of crazy HIH tricksters figured out a way to get a vehicle into the Index Chamber in Halo 2's Quarantine Zone. If you're thinking "yeah, so?" read the explanation of how this came about in grumpy's post. That's some pretty serious dedication, there! (Louis Wu 13:40:20 UTC)

I've toured most of QZ from above in a Ghost multiple times, and once had a Hog with passengers SpecOps Commander and cohort catapulted up topside & drove to places you'd never imagine. I usually took a vehicle to the Gondola... but they're set to asplode there no matter what when the cutscene begins. Guess I'll have to read that soonish.

And a few days later, HIH is no more. But speaking of old school...

We're This Many
Back in 2003, I was writing for a little videogame site, where I was the staff's "Xbox guy". Back then, that really meant I was the "Halo guy" -- all anyone wanted to read about was Halo, Halo and more Halo. As an aspiring filmmaker, I was trying to find new ways to show off the game and hopefully have something unique for people to watch. One day while making a screenshot for a story, I had a blue Spartan up on my monitor. In a moment of monumental laziness, I decided that instead of photoshopping out the HUD graphics for the screenshot, I would just throw up a quick letterbox to cover everything up. I took a look at it and said "hey, that kind of looks like a real movie". I showed it to Geoff and Gus and they agreed "yeah, that does kind of look like a real movie". We made a short video, sent it out to my buddy Matt in Los Angelese and he wrote back "yeah, this looks like a real movie". So, on April 1st 2003 we uploaded our first episode of Red vs Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles to the internet for people to watch.
Five years and over 100 million downloads later, we are pleased to announce the 6 DVD Box Set of the thing that kind of looks like a real movie.
