I bought a MacBook today
so my wife went out of town and I just bought a new refurb macbook 2.2 (black of course) to replace my aging 12" powerbook. I was hoping that apple would come out with a 12 macbook pro but after seeing that air I doubt they will make a pro in the size I want.
Now I just need this MB to be delivered and someone to buy my PB before my wife gets back in two weeks. I'm sure she won't mind too much but like they say, "it's easier to ask for forgiveness then it is to ask for permission."

Re: I bought a MacBook today
I did that recently when my TiBook died a painful death due to iced tea a few months ago. Sure she was upset, but I already had the laptop. There was no argument.
Congrats on the new MacBook.

Re: I bought a MacBook today
DANGER DANGER DANGER!
I once bought a computer while my wife was out of town. (There used to be a thread about it here, but I can't find the thing...) I bought a dual G4 and tried to swap it out with my G3. The cases looked almost exactly the same, just a slightly different color. (I was hiding the G3 in the trunk of my car.) The G3 eBay auction was still active when she figured it all out.
The story ended in tears, cancelled auctions, and eventually, selling the G4 on eBay. It's still a big bone of contention.
Actually, I sold the G4 on eBay for a little bit more than I purchased it for.... so really, we made a profit. I should be greeted as a Liberator!

Re: I bought a MacBook today
so what you are saying is that I need to have the powerbook sold before she gets back. or at the very least have it out of the house/car.

Re: I bought a MacBook today
I just got my shipment notification for my MacBook and I have three people fighting over the powerbook. so far so good.
I think when my wife first walks in the door I will say "look what I bought honey" she might be mad but she will also want to tell me about her trip so she will end up talking to me. if she does get upset I will just remind her that she took a trip to whistler without me. and that this is all her fault.
oh man I'm screwed aren't I?

This is why it's advantageous for straight guys to actually notice when she's - got a new hairdo, new clothes, new shoes, a new purse, manicure, etc.
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

Either that or as a whipped monkey.
GOOD GOD man, stand up to the woman, let her know who is boss. Oops, gotta go, my wife is calling.

Or at least ask permission first.
