It could be, you're right. Like I said though, my symptoms cleared up after a few visits. I firmly believe the chiropractor helped me, you guys don't have to.
I guess the reason I get fired up about things like this is that your last statement isn't satisfactory at all to me. Believing something doesn't make it true and it scares me that people are willing to brush off scientific evidence with the notion of "it worked for me, so it must be true, despite any other evidence".
There's also whatstheharm.net for some horror stories: http://whatstheharm.net/chiropractic.html
And of course, you'll find these stories in any field. What you won't find is anyone claiming "What's the harm" for conventional medicine, because in those fields responsible doctors will inform you of the risks involved in the treatment. I wonder if any chiropractor has prefaced a treatment with "you could end up paralyzed if I do this wrong"?
iSeamus, happy to introduce you to the SGU. The podcast is quite excellent.
I'll check out the horror stories, and I see your concern about proof and such. Of course I don't think conventional medicine only seeks to mask symptoms. Conventional medicine is amazing! In this case though rather than taking pain killers for the migraines, I wanted to fix what was causing them.

They didn't mention Christopher Reeve and how he died because his spine was all smurfed up. NTM all the meds required that I'm sure took a heavy toll on organs.
#1 Killer in America is medication! And the use of all drugs shortens your life span.
Anyway I've seen the dog and pony show. Yeah I'd like to see more facts on the claims too but most of it made sense. I know ibuprofen is really hard on your liver and aspirin throws off your body's Ph. Some of those disclaimers on other prescription drugs scare the smurf out of me. “Most side effects are rare and minor but could include liver failure and or even Death!?!” “If you’re taking A, B and/or C don’t take D or your head will explode” W! T! F!
Didn't balk at the price because BCBS is picking up at least 80%. Just had my four week check up where a new resistance scan (not infrared) was done. There's improvement but there's 6 more months to go. Told the 'Doc' I don't feel any different (partial lie) 'cause he knows he hasn't won me over. Honestly I do feel a greater range of movement and I'm sleeping better. At least once a week I'd wake up with a stiff neck and raking leaves, I’d feel that for two days if not more. Not since the visits. Last weeks leaf raking I didn’t feel at all.

ibuprofen isn't hard on your liver at all. you're thinking of tylenol.

C'mon every profession has horror stroies.
“Every month, twice as many as those who died in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks die in U.S. hospitals from preventable adverse events,” says The Other AMA (www.americansmadandangry.org). To put this in clear perspective, a jumbo jet at its full capacity could crash six days out of the week for the entire year leaving no survivors, and it still would not amount to the total number of needless deaths in America’s healthcare system.
Each year, more than 400,000 Americans die from cigarette smoking

I really wanted to post a link on how many are killed by their dentist every year but Google wasn't giving it up easily...anywho spare me the smurfing drama.

Side Effects
The side effects related to Ibuprofen, though fewer in number, can be more intense in symptoms. The most common side effects are GI (gastrointestinal) in origin. They include complaints of nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, and abdominal pain and occasionally even ulcers of the upper intestinal tract. There are other possible and less frequent side effects involving the central nervous system, liver and even allergic reactions like rashes.

Beats me. Out of all the painkillers, it's one of the mildest in its side effects.
