Writing a simple program for Mac OS X-(or newbie needs a HOWTO)

I would like to rewrite a program I have created for windows to be able to run on in Mac OSX (natively).  Its a simple calculation program for a flexographic plate distortion factor.  Not hard in Visual Basic, but thats the extent of my programming experience.  Can someone recommend a book, and or some basic things I need to know/understand in order to accomplish this task?  This small program would be an ideal way to learn some basics as well, as I would not be jumping in to something hard to start with.

I appreciate your help, folks.   big_smile
