And yes spotlight sucks right now, that doesn't mean it's gonna suck forever. Besides, it wouldn't need to be a search based acces, but for example a keyword cloud, or a hierarchy of keyword relation.
So please, tell me your problem, instead of doing the prima donnas.

Re: next cat
I don't think PPC support will go away with 10.6. It just wouldn't be a good business decision. Well, a good business decision maybe. After all, everyone running G5's or earlier would be forced to upgrade or retain the older OS. However, it would be a terrible customer relations decision, so I don't see it happening. At least not with 10.6.
Most new stuff will be written in universal so it will run on PPC or Intel. That's where we're at now, and I don't see that changing. The only problems will be that older video cards (like ones that came with the PPC machines) will be far outdated for some of the newer software. Basically, other components will limit compatibility before non-PPC support does.
As for the non tree-based file system. I'd like to see more of an emphasis on Spotlight, but the traditional file system navigation will be around for a long time. It will just be less used. Look at terminal. You can still use terminal to directly navigate to a file, but Finder looks nicer. The same will happen with Spotlight.

When was the last time Apple offered an AGP videocard, even as an upgrade kit?

No trouble. But my not using such an option would not prevent OTHERS from using it. I do computer support for all branches of my family and a large portion of my friends. This sorting method pisses me off every time I see it, and having it's ill though out stupidity creep into OSX would piss me off even more.

Exactly. By the time 10.6 ships the newest PPC system will be 5 or maybe 6 years old. I won't be surprised if Apple does support G5s, or at least some G5s but I think a clean break would be better at this point.

The illusion of the window being the folder is broken allready, and we're in a messy in the middle thing right now. If one need a mental handle to the file, let it be so, and it will be represented by an icon. But I don't think we're so incapable of adapting that we won't be able to quit folder based navigation, as it's restrictive and counter productive, in the sense that your classification has physical limits.
It might take a little while for dusty people to adapt, but we've come a long way allready, and it's not like it's going to stop now.
Besides, it would / could be a unified / coherent experience, which we don't have now.

i really wished that they made a suck @$$ g5 for laptops and a cooler[as in temp] architechture for g6 if it happened
i also don't beleive that 10.4.11 is perfect which it should be. the jump from 10 to 10.4 were huge but the jump to 10.5 is galactic. it could be a trend with 10.6 only going with g5's like some speculate here, and 10.6 could just want vista like specs

Nothing is perfect, least of all a computer OS.

im not arguing with you i'm just tellin you guys my horrible experience.
they dont remember g3's i'm talking about the transitions. and what i mean by cutting edge is whatever is new is gold even if it sucks. a glam type definition very much like paying attention to wot kind of halliburton the next exec has. impulsive and always trying to top the rest no matter the consequence.
secondly i am not in human resources or anything like that, just the creative part. so, i have no power in finances. meaning i can't hire those people. i can hire an artist no prob.
i dunno wot ure talking about making a mistake. i couldnt make that mistake if i wanted to

A while, I'm sure. However, what I was getting at is that Apple will indirectly drop PPC support by having required specs that are above what an original PPC machine would have been. For example, an original G4 era graphics card doesn't support core image or quartz (I know some do, but this is just an example). However, those older machines can be upgraded to meet the new specs. What I'm getting at is that I think the actual code will still be Universal. I don't see a reason for Apple to abandon Universal coding and switch to a strictly x86 one. Maybe they will, but I don't see it being a smart decision.
