CrossOver Mac + Unreal Anthology + 24" iMac =
UT99 works great using a Win98 bottle, network performance seems alright, and it's acceptably fast at full rez
If this UT99 night does get going, I highly recommend anybody looking to run it on their (Intel) Mac download the free CrossOver trial... it's so much quicker/cheaper/easier than Bootcamp.

I think everything's on hold for now. Levi had some electrical issues in his basement where all the compy stuff is, so a full rewire job's in progress.

I'd hope so for a DX7.0a game that shipped 8 1/2 years ago. Even a 2600 Pro should have no problems filling a 24" panel with that.

Otherwise yeah, sounds like a plan. Free is good.

Re: Seven years ago...
I'd totally be down for a UT'99 match sometime. Hopefully I still have a copy of it somewhere around here... Can't do anything with UT3 though, neither of my computers can handle it enough to justify the purchase, and it's not out for 360 yet. Really wish I could play it, the demo was pretty fun, even at 15FPS.
Sort of answering a question of Bat's from another thread, but yes, I finally did get some better internet up here in alaska (moved up to the mainland, no longer on an island), so my ping should be down in acceptable ranges.

Almost there...alllllmost there...
I've worked on that every day this last week. Wiring is done but the Lair is a wreak...saw & drywall dust, wire clippings and crap all over. Plus to really finish the job we're also putting up a new ceiling. Those materials are due to be delivered today. Gimme a couple more weeks.
Keep checking here. We'll do some old skool in a couple weeks.

It wasn't there at first but then we tried an old skool weekend that fell flat but it's been there ever since. MA3 is offline atm. soon very soon.
To bad I don't have static ip but I don't think it changes much.

Otherwise we'll have to settle for that other game on which we played our 700 ping matches, and see who still 'has it.' I haven't played that one for over two years.

Why, even UT3 would run. NoX might even be forced to don a shirt...

Yeah, that made me sad; my computer is no longer the new shiny
Although, from what I've heard, the 8800GS isn't all that great.
Guess we'll have to wait for BareFeats to get ahold of one.
I don't use my Mac for new games, anyway
In other news, I've figured out a workaround to extend the life of the CrossOver trial.

Yeah, poor guy- stuck with no mouse aim and limited res, biliear filtering etc. with your FPSs. We weep for you, brother. Solidarity! Eventually, you too shall be released.

A step up, but as you'd guess, not a 'real' 8800.
Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO graphics card is based on code-named G92 graphics processing unit (GPU) that operates at 550MHz and sports reduced amount of execution units as well as cut-down memory bus. The new model features 96 unified shader processors at 1375MHz, 48 texturing units, 12 render back ends and 192-bit memory bus. Nvidia recommends its partners to install 384MB of 1600MHz GDDR3 memory on the GeForce 9600 GSO-branded graphics cards. Specifications of the GeForce 9600 GSO are exactly the same as specifications of the GeForce 8800 GS, therefore, the novelty should be considered as rebranding of a previous-generation product, not a new design.
Like all the latest graphics cards from Nvidia, the GeForce 9600 GSO features PureVideo HD high-definition video decoding and post-processing engine as well as sports DirectX 10.0 capabilities.
Even though the GeForce 9600 GSO graphics card features GPU with higher computing performance thanks to 96 unified shader processors, whereas the GeForce 9600 GT only has 64 of them, its memory bandwidth is considerably lower than that of the GT model due to cut-down memory bus (38.4GB/s vs. 57.6GB/s).
Pricing of the new graphics card is unclear, although Nvidia claims that the model 9600 GSO offers “amazing graphics performance within your reach”.
Altho maybe not if you buy it in a $2,200 computer.

Uhm... I'm almost afraid to post this here, especially since I was never in one of the Squads.
So yeah, I think I'll just say "Bat, Levi, keep your eyes peeled for a PM or an email."

Post away!
When MA started there wasn't squads. They came along after we grew so big that there needed to be smaller bite size pieces. Isn't about squads or MA even. Just fond memories in the last seven years with MA, RA, OSX, Robot and all the others we (I) played with.
