Is jailbreaking an iPod Touch a bad idea?
There are some things I'd like to do with my new iPod touch, especially syncing notes to my computer, that I apparently can't do unless I "jailbreak" my device.
How is this done? Can it wreck the device or void the warranty?
I heard about all those iPhones getting bricked by Apple and I'm leery of turning my new toy into a $470 paperweight.

I just jailbroke mu 8GB iTouch and it's useability has drastically increased. Now I can access ther terminal, read e-books, play games, watch pr0n and more.
I am waiting for a VNC app for the iTouch. Then it shall be the ultimate PDA.
I use the thing so much the I have dubbed it the CrackPod.

Very rarely does jail breaking brick an iPod (bricking is usually caused by messing with the boot loader, something most apps don't do), and although the warranty would technically be void if you did it, you could easily restore to factory conditions, leaving no trace of hacking behind.
If you do it, I recommend iLiberty; it really simplifies the process and is pretty reliable.
