confirmed -- 2 proteins done  http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ … =&t=18

and also already in the Top 20 of Team Average Daily Output.    Probably can pass me soon in average output.

Re: Welcome, new members!

I just started folding today.  I'm running it on a 2ghz Intel iMac.

The last time I ran something like this was back in 99.  Seti@home on a 266 beige G3. And it was the MacAddict guys that got me involved in that too.

Anyway, this seems to be a more "noble" cause than looking for aliens.  big_smile

Re: Welcome, new members!

Outstanding.    If you run a 2.0 ghz Intel iMac, it should crank out 3 % of a typical Intel protein per hour.

You can monitor the progress via  either of 2 files:  1) unitinfo.txt   2) FAHlog.txt       and these files are in your  Home / Library / Folding@Home folder.

Its also great that you posted here.   Everyone can see the Team statistics here.  http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ … =&t=18    You should appear in the top 20 of team producers in 7 days.  After 7 days, you should finish the 2nd protein and that's enough points per day to get you in the top 20.

NOTE:  each protein has a deadline.   So, in order to get credit for what your computer has done, the entire protein has to be completed by the deadline (time listed is in GMT -- Greenwich Mean Time) which is 5 hours ahead of Central Daylight Savings Time  (CDT).   So, its going to take 33 to 36 hours of CPU time to finish a typical protein.   The bigger the protein, the longer the deadline.

Welcome and we will see you on the stats board.

Re: Welcome, new members!

Excellent timing ---  3 days with a 2.0 machine is good.    It means your iMac is running enough hours per day to finish before the deadline.

Typically, after a protein finishes, it takes 3 to 10 minutes to upload your results and then 1 minute to download the next protein.   Once in a while, the upload gets stuck because of a server issue at Stanford University.   In that case, be patient, check out your FAHlog.txt file and post a message here in the forum.   Then I or somebody or yourself can also check the main support forum for Folding.    Anyway, that happens only rarely among the hundreds of proteins that we crank out each week.

Fold on !

Re: Welcome, new members!

Oh Lucy................ I'm home  big_smile

back online again and now patiently waiting for the closing of my old home...... which should net me a new Intel Mac.... a Mac Pro as I cannot let this 30" display sit unused.

so it's the steady little grind of my DP G5 puttering away again.

Re: Welcome, new members!

with the current crisis in the real estate industry, you would think it would be slower or faster depending on your point of view. my old home is worth more cause it's a surviver, Rita, Gustav and Ike all had their way with my old neighborhood and left the home unscathed ( almost... Rita got me a new roof although the old one never leaked from the storm ) so it's actually appreciated due to the number of homes that did not survive. lending co ( bank ) wanted a current appraisal and my money says it's going to come in much higher than loan value.
but hey, it's regulated red tape.

patience has it's rewards.

Re: Welcome, new members!

My brother had 2 appraisers for his house 10 days ago.   Maybe one for himself and one for the buyer.  Well, its interesting to hear that your market is different than up here.
