How to tell if a video is iPod-compatible?

Friendly greetings! I'm wondering if there's a way to tell if a video is iPod-compatible without having to load it onto one: I don't actually own a video iPod, and heard that previous versions of iTunes would refuse to convert a video if it was already compatible, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore:

Are there any other easy ways? I've checked the Apple tech specs and encoded to the right format (I think), here's an example URL:

Thanks in advance for any help! smile

Just drag into iMovie and then choose share/iPod. It will auto import to the iTunes movie folder and you will be good to go.

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't answer my original question re: avoiding unnecessary conversion if a movie's already in the right format. Is there a way to do that?

Yeah.

Can I take a .mov, slap it into QT pro and export it for iTunes?

What format does the iPod need?
