The coolest gadget in the world

I've seen a lot of gadgets in my life.  I think this one is at the top.  It's like a dream come true.  It's like EVERY geek's dream come true!

$3 grand, and no HD?  sad

A cool idea.  It would be a great novelty items to have around if it were cheaper.

Re: The coolest gadget in the world

It's 1024x768 -- Less than 720p, so it's not HD, but apparently accepts HD sources.  I don't think it's a great deal for the features, nor for the novelty.

Removing cost from the equation, it is rather awesome. That thing's kewl cool

Re: The coolest gadget in the world

Uhm 768 > 720 Mr T, just in case you've forgotten your math.

The difference is aspect ratio. 720p HDTV is 16:9 making it 1024x720. 1024 x 768 encompasses that resolution but the built in DVD player is just a standard MP4 capable DVD Player, likely with up convert, and not like a Blu-Ray or anything.

Re: The coolest gadget in the world

Not quite:

1024x768 (XGA) = 786,432 pixels
1280x720 (720p) = 983,040 pixels

Re: The coolest gadget in the world

Yeah I found that too as I read more and more but I also kept reading another interesting thing when used as computer display most 720p HDTV are 1048x768 despite really being like 1366x768. One wonders if this is the case with R2.

Re: The coolest gadget in the world

Who cares about the video resolution? Is it really remote controlled or are they faking R2's movements in that video?

But you could have R2D2 in your living room!  The next logical step is 3PO as your butler.
