PowerBook G4 800MHZ 15" Help with Memory upgrade!!? Pleasse!

The specs say :
PowerBook G4 (DVI)
0

2
    Up to 1 GB    PC133    21
PowerBook G4 (1GHz/867MHz)
0

2
    Up to 1 GB    PC133    21
PowerBook G4 (15-inch FW 800)
0

2
    Up to 2 GB    333 MHz (PC2700)    21, 24

But both the DVI and and FW have 800 MHZ processors but each differs in amount of RAM you can upgrade to. I have 2 slots and was wondering what would be the problem with upgrading to 2GB even though it may be the one that says 1GB is the limit? Would it not work?

Welcome to the MacLife Forums!

If your PB is one of the older Titanium models which only accepts a total of 1 GB RAM, then even if you can find appropriate RAM--that PC2700 RAM simply will not fit in and has the wrong number of pins (200 vs. 144) for the Titanium PBs--then chances are you would only see a total of 1GB and any additional RAM will not be recognized.

If your PB has an aluminum case, then it can use up to 2 GBs (in the form of two 1GB PC2700 sticks).

To further identify your PB, go to Apple History or download MacTracker (donationware) to get more details.

datamem.com has an easy to use memory finder, just click on the Apple logo you see on that site and tell it which computer you have from there. their prices are very well-to-do and cheap shipping.
