So why are you talking about wearing jeans and a t-shirt as a response to someone specifically talking about buying a nice suit for a wedding?
Actually, the OP was about a dress,
And I thought I might offer the guys who suggested that they hate suits an idea: Tossing a sports coat on with what you are probably wearing anyway makes you look more dressed up. (unless you're wearing bib overalls)
and it doesn't hurt one bit

Sports coat doesn't really go with my wife beater tshirt and cutoff shorts.

That's where you are wrong res, cutoff shorts go with anything. As long as they are cut off jean shorts.

Re: Help me find a dress, please
Style wise maybe not the most appropriate, but my wife has found some really nice dresses here:

As far as the suit thing goes... I hate shopping for suits. I have a hard time finding anything off the rack that fits all that well.

Oooh, tell your wife thanks! And send any more of her favorite clothing links!

Re: Help me find a dress, please
You might like overstock.com. I think the shipping rates aren't too bad, I don't know how soon you need the dress. The only other thing I can suggest is to go to an outlet mall. There are always good deals to be had.
If you live near a Burlington Coat Factory you could try there, I've seen formal wear there. Or a Nordstrom Rack outlet. Happy hunting.
