How do you change the startup screen in OS 10.4?

You need to replace a file called "Aqua Blue.jpg"

I was thinking the second one (with the progress bar), but if I could change the actual start-up apple itself, that would be even better.

You can easily change picture (b) with a shareware title called Visage. I don't know if you can change picture (a).

you can, by editing some sort of file in the Mac's critical startup files.
