Do I have dual link DVI?

Hi all, I currently have a 17" Powerbook G4, 1.5 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM, 100 GB HD and I can't for the life of me determine conclusively whether or not this thing has a dual-link DVI connector or not.  I bought it used off of ebay so the hard drive may have been upgraded and everything else is stock between the two iterations of PBs that had 1.5 Ghz processors.  Is there a physical difference to the port that I could see, that would be perfect, thanks for any responses.

Re: Do I have dual link DVI?

Go to Apple menu/about this mac. Then click more info, and click 'graphics/display'

It should tell you.

Are you sure about the dual-link DVI?  According to Mactracker, the 17" 1.5GHz Powerbook only had regular DVI.

Re: Do I have dual link DVI?

Ok, I tried about this mac again and nope, nothing referring to teh actual display connector.  and as far as the 17" Powerbooks having dual link, the models introduced in April '04 had the normal DVI port whereas the Powerbook line released for January 2005 featured dual link DVIs on the 17 inchers and offered it as a BTO for the high end 15" model.  I've delved as far into the specs as I can and still can't differentiate between the high end 17" model from Apr. '04 and the low end 17" from '05, so nobody has any minutiae that I missed?  thanks in advance  :^D

Re: Do I have dual link DVI?

Right, the 2005 Powerbooks had dual link DVI, but the 2005 models had 1.67GHz CPUS.  You said it was a 1.5GHz CPU, and none of the 1.5GHz models had dual link DVI.  Only the 15" Powerbook 1.5GHz had a dual link version.

The other way to find out if it has dual link DVI would be to go into System Profiler.  Check out Hardware Overview.  If the identifier is Powerbook5,7  or 5,9 then its definitely dual link, anything else  and its not.

One more thing (©Steve Jobs).  You should go to http://www.mactracker.ca/ and download Mactracker ASAP.  It has lots of spiffy features (including "This Mac"  as one of the models) which makes knowing what's what about various mac models much simpler.

Re: Do I have dual link DVI?

Thanks, I have had MacTracker installed on most of my Macs but the latest Powerbook and iBook I haven't bothered, instead I refer to www.apple-history.com which is where I think MacTracker originally obtained a lot of their info, but I could be wrong.
